  1. I'm there 3+ nights a week. I'm over 30 and climb mostly alpine and trad till I moved to Portland 2 years ago. Andy (the owner) was one of the first people I met around here. His big goal, along with the rest of the crew, is to build community and make a chill place to go hangout. If you go in there looking for a scene you'll find one. It's not encouraged. It's very popular with College kids and early on the weekend they do alot of Birthday parties. I'd recommend giving it a try, meet some of the locals. My names Jeff get in touch if you're going to come by. I'll climb with you.
  2. I'm in NJ for the next 6 days I need to climb (Plastic, rock, junk)Then N.E. for the next 6. Let's climb or point me in the right direction. Personal climbing mantra: When your done, you get beer!
  3. Hey check out the Trip report index. JosephH has a pitch by pitch report that was helpful when I went to do it. Just use Beacon as your location. I've only been in Portland for 2 Years and have really found both sides of the coin when it comes to people sharing info. Enjoy the climb.
  4. What part of town you in. I love the vibe of a garage or backyard woodie. It's a great place to meet people who climb. Look forward to hearing from you.
  5. I use Tuan's on Killingsworth and 14th and they've gone above and beyond for me many times. They also stand behind there work and will make it rite. Also the auto dept at Clark college over in Vancouver is a Toyota cert program and they are CHEAP!!!!!!! the only down side is they do take longer to get the work done
  6. Let me know Next time you're heading out.
  7. I can't get the attachment open
  8. Up in Sqamish you can get them reslung. I do believe the company is called On-site. Call climb on up there they have teh info. They do a top notch job. You don't!!!want to trust it to a regular tailor.
  9. WElcome Get in touch when the weather get better to go play outside. If you want to go pull plastic drop me a line I'm at the Circuit Bouldering Gym 3 + days a week. I'll be back in the area early Feb. Go check out the gym at www.thecircuitgym.com it's Thee best indoor bouldering in the area. Getr in touch if you want to
  10. I'm in just say when. The Circuit? You mean the Gym or a is that a bar somewhere is good!!!
  11. The Friday night Dj is a regular thing music starts at around 7 pm they close at 11 pm. The scene is pretty chill. Plenty for everyone from old school to "teenage bro brahs".
  12. Go to The Circuit Bouldering Gym in Portland. Check out there web site www.thecircuitgym.com. It's sick fun. Live DJ on Friday nights. Carvers is cool if dry. Central oregon has great bouldering and there is some good stuff along the gorge, if it's dry!! Rock on
  13. Get in touch. I'd love to help in any way needed. I also had some questions about route development and protocal. I spied a line not in any guide books I've seen as well as bolting on keeping it natural.
  14. In regards to hauling soil up to the big tree ledge. Your asking for a big muddy mess. I was up there for the first time last week and looked the situation over. Hauling soil may seem like a good idea but it will do the tree no good whatsoever. It will only result in a lot of work for nothing. There's nothing to retain the soil on the ledge. Big trees on a cliff don't live forever because of location and no matter how much we wish it would be there forever, It won't. Some day that tree is going to come down. The day I was on the ledge was fairly calm and I could see the tree roots seperating in the light breeze.Hopefully no one will be clipped into it when it does come down on it's own. I'm no Arborist but I am a Hort. Professional and have a good understanding of trees. Get a arborist/Sawyer up there to give you a pro. opinion. I really enjoyed Beacon and plan on exploring more around there. Just wanted to give you a heads up to avoid any problems.
  15. Not the same area, but if you want a fun alpine route the West Ridge of the North T win is very fun. You can do it in a day or take a leasurely two day trip.
