  1. In our youth we had not been mislead by fantasies, nor by the bloody battles of modern warfare which feed the imagination of the young. For us the mountains had been a natural field of activity where, playing on the forntiers of life and death, we found the freedom for which we were blindly groping and which was as necessary to us as bread. The mountains had bestowed on us their beauties, and we adorned them with a child's simplicity and revered them with a monk's veneration of the divine.

  2. There was a Chris Rock stand-up (at least I think it was him) bit that had me laughing, but it wasn't a terrible idea at the same time. He suggested that instead banning guns, we should just make bullets REALLY expensive, like 50grand. "I would shoot you for saying that, but I already have 2 bullets on lay-away for a guy that talked shit to me last week. You best watch your back if I win the lottery though..."

To combat black-market bullet sales, we can just make the penalty death by a firing squad, a bit of humour/irony :)

  3. has anyone tried Back Country coffee in Twisp? My dad just brought me back a pound of Sumatra from them and it's not bad.

  4. for every bolt you chop, i will put 3 in, just to remind you that you are doing more harm than good. that way you are directly responsible for the over bolting in this area :)

  5. wilderness areas are simply political boundries. IB is not that far from 38 and 32 (geographically), so, like troggie, said, why use "wilderness" as an excuse?

we obviously have to draw the line somewhere, but just because a hunk of rock is closer to the road than another makes it acceptable to bolt/visa versa?

  6. approach is ~45mins. pitch 11 is ~.10a and pitch (i think) 19 is the crux at .10b (i think the rating was fine). then a short 5.8 pitch and the last .10a bit, a bolted chimney for a bit that then pulls onto the face. 2 more easy to the top.

i had a good time doing it once, but will probly never do it again, too long of a day and the good climbing was too spaced out ot make it all that classic.
