So…..where is Climb Max these days…..they have moved too many times for me to keep track.

How do you come up with personalities on this topic? IMO it’s simply about the most “off the hook” rock climbing achievement. Which is subjective. Lynn Hill’s fee climbing of the nose was number one in my book for years, but then Tommy came in and freed two El Cap routes in one day. Tommy has raised the bar….plain and simple.

I do not believe any boulder problem to even be on the same planet as freeing an El Cap route. All due respect to the very strong. But pulling hard moves 10, 20 or 30 feet off the ground is way different than pulling hard moves 2000 feet off the ground and you add the cardio necessity to the equation, and Tommy’s achievement is outstanding. IMO.

What do you think is the best ever rocking climbing achievement ever? Dean Potter on El Cap and Half Dome in one day…..solo? Lynn Hill freeing the nose? Todd Skinner and Paul Piana freeing the Salathe wall in 1988? Chris Sharma on Realization? The list goes on and on. My vote goes to Tommy Caldwell for freeing the Nose twice in two weeks and the second time freeing the nose and freerider in 24 hours…..that is off the hook.

Whats funny is this video make the O look like a solid awesome place to climb. This new route is one of the loosest scariest climbs there. Why else do you think it was the "last" problem to go up? Not because of the grade. But because the base of the climb looks like a war zone with all the rock that had to come off.....lots of it by hand.....I and others had a chance to clean and have ago.....but it was too scarry (I guess we are wimps).....

All 4 lines That is funny! When I go to smith I always warm up on Zebra Zion….my favorite in the park…..cant even think about not being able to climb that climb because of a pet. And its not just smith….really any crag….especially a state park.

Sounds like a reasonable argument. I love dogs…..I would never own one myself (cant take of myself, how could I take care of a dog?). I do not see the point of bringing your dog to the crag, how are they going to have fun being tied up? They should be tied up! When a dog runs up to me with even the slightest growl, my first response is “am I going to have to kick the dog in the nose”? I love animals and would hate to harm another persons pet…..but if its him or me????? The dog is going down. How am I supposed to know if the dog is friendly? I have friends with dogs…..seems like they never climb multi-pitch at smith…..what a shame.

I had tickets to see him in Portland in 1990.....then he died....I was crushed. I was 17 at the time and a huge fan.
