[TR] Mt. Rainier - Liberty Ridge 7/11/2010
sunnyrem replied to Steph_Abegg's topic in Mount Rainier NP
Does anyone have a sense of whether or not this climb might still be in for a July 20/21/22 attempt based on what the route conditions were when Steph did this climb? -
A side note: I found a Marmot jacket just above Source Lake on my descent from Chair Peak yesterday. Thought it might belong to folks who climbed Chair yesterday (I also posted this on the lost and found.) If you can tell me the color of the jacket and the name of the movie that was on the ticket stubs that were in the pocket of the jacket, you can have it back. 206.354.8518 FYI Chair partners - SR is, in fact, going to lose the toenails off of both big toes. Ouchy Wowchy.

Hi - A friend just forwarded your post to me - I am looking to take exactly the type of trip that you describe to either the Bugs or the WRR. I am unemployed for the month of July, at the last minute, and would love to put together a trip with you. Give me a call at 2063548518 and we can chat. I currently just climbed Denali and am out of rock climbing shape, but will be back in shape by July after a few weeks in the gym and at that point I'll be able to lead 5.9 trad pretty solidly and maybe some 5.10. I can follow higher grades.

On Sept 26 while descending in the descent gully for Group Therapy/Tunnel vision at Red Rocks climbing area near Las Vegas, I found one size 43 La Sportiva Scorpian climbing shoe. One of the groups who climbed Tunnel Vision that day was from Seattle, so I thought I would post this information. If the shoe is yours, give me a call at 206 354-8518 and we'll figure out a way to get it back to you.

I am looking to buy used gear appropriate for Denali, where I hope to be headed about this time next year. If you have just returned or have gear from past years that you would like to sell, I'm your person. There are many expensive things I need and here is an incomplete list. There are likely other things I neglected to list here, so please contact me with any gear appropriate for Denali that you are trying to sell (2063548518): 1. Alpine BOD harness (or something similar) 2. Overboots 3. Vapor barrier liners (for hands and feet) 4. 40 Below bag with pertex coating 5. Headlamp 6. Sled with aluminum poles 7. Boots (Vasque Ice 9000, LaSportiva Nupse or Spantik, One Sport Everst, or other appropriate) 8. Mittens, liner gloves 9. V25 Northface tent 10. Balaclava (200-300 wt Gorilla by OR or other appropriate) 11. 200-300 wt long underwear 12. outer pants 13. ski crampons Sunny

Does any know if Dreamer is climbable right now? I've never been to Darrington, so I'm not sure about snow/wet conditions this time of year.

There is a threat to close the Ghost Valley in Alberta, home to This House of Sky and Valley of the Birds and many other great water ice climbs. The deadline for comment is Friday. There's a link below to an online petition (organized by the Calgary Mountain Club), so make your opinion known. PLEASE be cordial if you choose to comment(no spray, PLEASE! Give climbers a GOOD name.) http://www.calgarymountainclub.com/petition.htm

My advisor is out-of-town starting tomorrow (wooooo-hooooo!!! freeedom!) for at least the next two weeks and I'm looking to get out mid-week for some alpine rock or ice in the Cascades now that the weather is cooperating. I'm up for anything. Mostly just hoping for an adventure or two on some challenging multipitch alpine routes. I can lead 5.9 trad and follow in the low 5.10's. E-mail or call 2063548518 if you're interested. I can start tomorrow.

Send me an e-mail or call 2063548518 (I don't check the board too often). I'm interested in alpine rock mostly, but am open to other things.

Sept would work for me. What dates were you thinking of going? I think it might start to get snowy there in Sept.
-
Partner bailed. I'm bummed. We were thinking of N Ridge of The Grand and the Cirque of Towers, maybe Garnet. Interested?
-
I'm headed to the Enchantments with some friends for 6 days but none of them are climbers and I want to climb! If anyone will be up there looking for climbing partners, I can meet up with you. (You out there John? Feel like doing one of your one-day alpine marathons? I hope all is well with the new family.) Send me an e-mail if you're interested. -Sunny

Have a few days off next week to climb either alpine rock or ice. I'm up for anything challenging, but have had my eye on Mt. Buckner for a while. Send me an e-mail if you are interested.

Hi Kim, I also got attacked when I posted on this board for the first time....except I wasn't warned and was quite shocked! They thought I was a guy, which was really funny. I am looking for a climbing partner for VW in Seattle after work (if you're open to that). I'd prefer to get outside in the mountains on the weekends. I love alpine rock and ice. Sunny

I'm also looking for partners to climb with locally at an intermediate level. This is my first season back after a leader-fall ankle injury and I want to ease back into it. I prefer alpine rock and ice, but glaciers are fun too.

Why is it getting the chop?

If you're interested in climbing Infinite Bliss, reportedly the longest sport climb in N America (23 pitches, 5.10b), call me at 206 300-1132 or e-mail at sunny9@u.washington.edu . We have a team of three right now and are looking for a 4th. Here's a link to a short route description, so that you know what you're getting yourself into: http://www.alpinedave.com/garfield/infinite_bliss.htm

Just recovered from a shattered ankle bone due to a leader fall in April and haven't climbed much of the summer. At about the same time I started climbing again, I lost a good climbing partner who I've been climbing with for over a year and I’m looking for a new one. (Although I did gain one titanium plate and 3 screws in my ankle!) I'm itching to get out anywhere, anytime, any type of climbing. I can go during the weekdays. I leave the country on ~Sept 20 until Nov/Dec, so I’d like to climb a lot until then. I can lead up to 5.9 trad and on alpine ice. Glaciers are cool too. Or cragging. I just NEED to get out!! Also looking for potential climbing partners for S America (Bolivia and Peru) in May and June of next year.
