  5. yes, they are the same model as those on s and c. check out the naxo website if you are not familiar with them or their history. they are size "small", so the max. boot length is 300mm.
  6. 2nd gen. they are small - i bought them for my wife, who wears a size 8 running shoe.
  7. Naxo NX01 - Brand new, still in box any questions?
  8. it all goes and i'm sure that there are many variations for the start. we started well left of your start - up a 70-75 deg. slab with a crack in it. it worked well and puts you up on the rib earlier. as i remember, jim's book showed the route starting even farther left than our start. also, the best pitch on the route is to go direct to the summit in lieu of walking left up the choss gully and then following the ridge up.
  9. dave, i'm w/fairweather on this one. wta has never done a thing to support mt biking or share the trails with anyone. the middle fork trail is no exception. their way or the highway. speaking of highways - it seems as though they are trying to turn many of the trails into highways.
  10. it won't be real history unless you include skinner saying, "that's got to be the hardest route in WA" and then Hampson saying, "no, that's the hardest route in WA" (while pointing to the Norwegian Butt.).
  11. i have 2 60m 8.5mm ropes in excellent condition - i can't remember if they are pmi or mammut. i have never fallen on them. 90.00 for both. i also have a black 60m static line that is in excellent condition. 60.00
  12. i didn't see the word "double" in that article (did i miss it)? i did see - "the only way to save the park is to ban snowmobiles" - that's funny! why aren't they arguing against automobiles and people in the summer? have you seen that place in the summer? - it's like a downtown circus. the sleds are using the same roads. you could allow 100 times as many sleds in there in the winter and it wouldn't come close to the summer impact. aren't they requiring the sleds to transition to 4 strokes - didn't see that in the article. you're for banning cars in the valley too, right? i don't own a sled or believe they should be allowed in the parks, but i do like to read both sides of the story and make just decisions. this includes the history, as well as the plan to decrease the #'s from previous years .....
  13. Aliens - blue, yellow, green - like new 30.00 each Technical Friends - #1, #2 - like new 20.00 each All Sold!
  14. i assume you are doing the east ridge or south face? you can rap the west ridge with a single rope. a 60m is nice, but you shouldn't have a problem downclimbing short sections - as many have descended with a 50m rope. i've descended the west ridge with 1 rope - works fine but not a route worth climbing up (upper part is cool though). i've also rapped the west side of the south face with 2 ropes after doing the s. face - might be able to get by with one, but you will have to build a station (we built some pretty good stations last year). you can downclimb alot of the lower part. other than the 2 rope weight, the south face descent is nice because you leave all of your crap at the base. even if you do the s face descent, you are probably going to need shoes, spikes, or an ax to get to the east ridge. it's pretty easy to climb the east ridge with this though because the climbing is moderate - 1 5.9 pitch. other stuff - keep you options open - you can probably get to the s face pretty easy - it might be harder to get to the east ridge (crevasses). also, if you do descend the west ridge, there may be a big crevasse near the base that you have to run and literally fly over (the upper side is higher so it goes). worst case you have to walk west a ways to skirt it - could add 30 minutes.
  15. basso actually scares me, as does anyone that can climb and is very close to lance in the GC. lance will normally smoke him in a TT, but i believe the TT is uphill this year. on another note - i'm very dissapointed in lemonds comments to the french press about lance and performance enhancing drugs. you expect these things from the french press, but from greg? it ain't gonna help him sell any of his bikes. why would he even go there? is he really that bitter about lance being the new greatest US cyclist ever?
  16. what constitutes a new trail? is a new trail something that is built with the intention of making a trail or does it come about from traffic to an area of interest - climbers path. i agree - you shouldn't be able to go build a trail anywhere you like. and, i don't think that is the what has happened here. nobody has ever complained about the TRAIL? that people use to do the standard route on Garfield's main peak (it is a trail) or the thousands of approach paths to climbs all over the Cascades (UNTIL NOW). so, we're we not being good stewards because we want to climb garfield, eldorado, bear, forbidden, the tooth, stuart ......? If this group had it's way, every climbing approach (that has now become a trail from popularity) that fred used on his first ascents, is illegal and a violation and makes us irresponsible. must we first have our approach reviewed for compliance. i agree, erosion is one of the many issues that we all need to be concerned with and we should be conscientious even with approach paths. however, i think alps is way "over the top" on this one. i've been on the trail that spurred this debate, and i don't see a problem with it. climbing popularity has surely grown and with it there is a lot of impact. hopefully, these discussions will raise awareness and help us to act accordingly. maybe i am oversimplifying the WTA's agenda when i say they want established "hiking only" trails everywhere, but that is what their website conveys. ok, that's all for me on this one. peace.
  17. they may both be watching (gov. and activist groups), but it is not the gov. agencies looking for places to close. it is the environmental activists that are driving this (they are pro environment as long as it's their definition and suits their needs). be careful, although most of us are environmentally conscious or trying to be, the environmental activists have some hidden agenda's that wouldn't make a lot of you/us happy. there is a lot of hypocrisy. On a slight tangent - I even wonder about the WTA, they promote a wilderness environment (which is good), but then they want a trail on every inch of the earth - my example is their restoration promotion of trails that are over grown and have disappeared. like, the west side of sloan (their website lists many others). climbers don't have a problem getting in there. we don't need a staircase or pavement on every trail. wouldn't the wildlife appreciate some trail-less portions of the earth - isn't that a better way of promoting wilderness than getting thousands of city dwellers to drive their vehicles to the mountains and swarm the forests. harvey manning is another great example of hypocrisy as slams others for their actions while he sells millions of hiking guides that lead every city dweller to the mountains. other than that, i really don't have an opinion.
  18. Maybe the article should be entitled "Northwest Forest Pass" - it is the most significant trailhead thievery I have seen.
  19. ok, $40.00 for my crampons (and they're worth twice that)
