I'll bet there a lot of chicks that think "like that." But at least this one's got the "balls" to post her position on the matter right "up front." Only a woman who felt otherwise powerless would even begin to think that anything resembling this statement would be true. And someone like that would be more worthy of pity than derision. It is as sad as a guy who thinks his money is what women are after rather than admitting he's just insecure that he has nothing else of value to offer. Very sad; and usually untrue. I would hope she is not posting her position, but rather, showing that she has a sense of humor. Maybe I'm wrong on that, but I thought I'd throw another interpretation out there.

This sentence seems to impugn all of Islam not just fundamentalists. And I agree that the treatment of women in fundamentalist Islam is repugnant. Are woman as powerless and valueless among all practicing muslims or do we just hear about the worst? They are property. They are something to be controlled. I learned this quickly within the first couple of weeks of my Arabic class. Even the "tolerant" have a view that most free women and free men would consider reprehensible.

If you are a woman, then you might be able to argue that all (male) followers of Islam are intolerant and violent. I don't know what it would seem like from a man's point of view; but I'll bet there is more than one who wishes he could have the freedoms of the Western world.
