Your real score, however, is an amalgamation of payment history, current level of indebtedness, types of credit used and length of credit history and new credit in determining credit risk. Math geeks pick this number for you.
-
Loan officers in WA (whom do not have to be licensed like the mortgage brokers they work for) often get all three of your credit reports and average the numbers together in order to start shopping for a loan for you. No shit.
-
so how do you figure your SCORE once you have the REPORT in hand? You average the three numbers together. Now that's just being mean... Yes.
-
I knew that, Rob, and everybody should know that. Jeezus, peeples, it's how capitalism works! Yes.
-
Mothra will kill you for even considering that a possibility.
-
Yes.

Yes.

Well, did you check it? If you need help, I work at a bank. How funny is that? I feel sheepish.
-
Oh My God-- How many times do I have to fucking repeat myself? I misread her question and thought she was asking about OTHER people checking her credit. CHECK YOUR OWN CREDIT AT NO PENELTY TO YOU. CHECK YOUR OWN CREDIT--IT WILL NOT COUNT AGAINST YOU. CHECK IT. NOW. WHAT ARE YOU DOING STILL READING THIS STUPID POST?

I see... it's like if you're not a terrorist, you won't run from the cops. I know a lot of people who've had various identity-theft hassles - getting a copy of your credit report seems reasonable these days. Absolutely. Again, ignore my hasty response to the question I misread. My pupils are square and my brain is mush. Mush I tell you.
-
Right RBW, I did not read the question carefully enough. Thank you for pointing out that requesting your own credit record is a different story. My bad.
-
Yes. Why? They assume (usually rightfully) that when you are getting your credit checked, it is b/c you want to buy something on credit. Whenever you have purchased something on credit and you have an amount outstanding, your score is lower. It is not lowered with one hit (unless that hit was by the gov't or a debitor you are in arrears with), but it is lowered with multiple hits. Remember that the party checking your credit also shows on the report.

I apologize for my unclear post. What I meant to say was that I am not going to condense two years of business school into a spray post for your amusement. Are we clear now?

Correct on both counts. Again, correct. As mentioned, I have thought of this as a career change, and have, to this point, only talked directly with folks that have done it and made a successful "go" of it. I have friends who make as much (and several make more) as I do. They have opened Subways, Papa John's, Baskin/Robbins, and one couple even started their own business by opening a bagel shop (they have three now, in two counties). I haven't talked to anyone yet who fell flat on their face, so my interest is still piqued... The questions remains, it's one thing to make money, but it's the time off that really is a concern to me at this stage in my personal life. It's funny that you mentioned Subway first--they have actually rec'd the worst rating as a large franchise for two years in a row. I am not saying that the f-word is bad. I am saying that your inclination to research this option is right on.

So how about folks who are interested in sharing their questions, concerns, and experiences about franchising and owning a small business meet in a pub and discuss it. I will need to dig through a bunch of shit to gather the info that I am thinking of and bring it with me to give to ya'll, so I'll need a day or two if you are interested in looking at the stuff I read in school and since then. Does that sound whack or would you all be down for that?
-
Yes.
-
Marie, I have no interest in fulfilling your request in a spray fest.
-
there are a lot of problems with franchises. I know that you will not base your decision on anecdotal evidence--you are too analytical for that. There are many sucesses obviously, but I know that you will look carefully at the current trends and the astonishing amount of rules/regs/failures that exist within the franchising world.

Could you please list those climbs here?

My favorite is my own Easton Amber. Er, each batch comes out a little different but nary a complaint. Supplies are limited until November. Since we're talking about beer, somebody ask me how my trip to Belgium went (I just returned Saturday). Hey, how was Belgium?
-
this is simply not true. Sobo, we gotta talk--again.

Very informative, in depth article. I liked it. Good reading. Thanks.

Yeah, but can you do it car-to-car? BTW: fabulous pic--beautiful.
