  1. Anyone have any thoughts on the avalanche conditions for south side of Hood this weekend? (Beyond what NWAC is saying: http://www.nwac.us/forecast/avalanche/current/zone/13/) Still going up? Canceling?
  2. Thanks much, Atreides. Will be sure my tauntaun has his new ice tool too. (and his own PLB...) Thanks for the info all...
  3. HIlarious write-up. Tell me true, though, any need for a rope up the Old Chute?

    Mt Hood

I'm writing a biography of Mt. Hood, due out by Sasquatch Books in spring 2011. Just so everyone knows . . .
  5. Frikadeller — Great report. Thanks for posting. I'd been looking for a little info on current conditions as we're heading up this Monday. Camping Sunday night. See any water flowing up around the 4,000-4,5000-ft level?
  6. Heading up St. Helens on Monday, June 8. Anyone been up recently? What kind of conditions did you encounter and what gear did you use? Thanks . . .
  7. I knew Kevin for almost 12 years, and though we were never super close, we definitely had some times: climbing at Smith, Frenches, Broughton; hiking Wind Mountain one fall weekend; sipping beers and such over the years at various gatherings. Always friendly and always diving into everything he did with everything he had. I admired his dedication and his devotion. (and his Magnum P.I. Halloween costume a few years back . . .) He leaves a lot of sad and glad hearts behind, but also a legacy that will keep him close by.
  8. You can also still get books online at www.ozoneguide.blogspot.com!
  9. Books! We still have books! Send me a PM to get yours before they're gone!
  10. Nice photo. Keep 'em coming.
  11. Found some sunglasses at the Lucky Lab on one of the auction tables after the event. If you lost them, let me know . . .
  12. Ok, are you ready for this? Our early results are in and we're excited to share them with everyone who's helped us out throughout this entire effort. For starters, the iPod raffle brought in nearly $800! We sold close to 325 books the night of the event. And all together, with the raffle, the book sales, and the silent auction, we've so far raised . . . nearly $17,000! That's absolutely an incredible number and we extend our sincerest thanks to everyone who's contributed in one way or another. And we're still selling books and collecting money from the silent auction, so we're not done yet.
  13. Thanks Elaine, and thanks again for everyone coming out. The turnout was fantastic.
  14. At this point, we don't need to print more. It is always an option though.
  15. Yep, killer night everyone. Thanks for coming out, helping out, and just having a good time. Results are impressive, but we won't be sharing any numbers till a bit later. Y'all should be proud though, I will say that. (The iPod raffle alone brought in nearly $800!) Also, anyone who didn't get a book but wants one, let me know. I've got a stash at home and we'll be selling them till they're gone. Thanks again for making this whole endeavor a success.
  16. Lake Oswego baby...
  17. Looking forward to the evening! Books are ready, silent auction runneth over with goods, and the sun is shining. Yeah . . .
  18. Yeah Bill, looking forward to meeting you too. And thanks for showing up to help out...
  19. The Oregonian put a nice story and picture up on their web site this evening...
  20. Got a few more late donations today, including some brews from Roots and McMenamins and some design consultation from a designer at Ankrom Moison Associated Architects. The silent auction should have something for everyone...
  21. You're missin' out. They're cool shots . . .
  22. And remember, it's the Lucky Lab Beer Hall in NORTHWEST PORTLAND! 1945 NW Quimby Street. Not the one in southeast and not the one in Multnomah Village!
  23. Thanks to the Columbian for helping spread the word - and to Kevbone for chattin' with the reporter. http://columbian.com/article/20080925/NEWS02/809239904&SearchID=73331134408766
  24. There's a partial list of silent auction items and services up on the site — www.ozoneguide.blogspot.com. Check it out . . .
  25. Check out the cover shot of the book. It's up on the site: www.ozoneguide.blogspot.com . . .
