  1. You mean the "DEATH MODIFIED GRI GRI"
  2. Can't seem to figure out how to make the Rocker work in the lead up from the ground rope in the pack way At least not safely. Anyone try the Soloist or Silent Partner by Wren?
  3. and now back to devices....

The Last Blue Mountain by Ralph Barker==gripping A Short History Of Nearly Everthing by Bill Bryson=compelling Stone Palaces by Geoff Childs=written in a very unique voice
  5. Man, I had a good time today, sending a new route and using my Yates Rocker! My mates flaked so it's a good thing to have a solo belay device. The Rocker runs free yet has a positive catch. I have only tried it in the anchored top rope configuration. I am thinking it might work in the lead up from the ground up with the rope anchored at the bottom and in the back pack idea. What do you guys like to use?
  6. Shit yeah! While we are at it let's put a digital camera/video in there (but no cell/radio phone) Phatness, on route Holy freakin'
  7. I understand the market dynamics of why all the brands are within a couple bucks of each other, but I cannot tell whether the cost is high due to economies of scale (it is a small demograpghic/market that uses these things) or going after what the market will bear (this user demographic expects to pay alot for good equipment) I think they could be cheaper and or integrated into a gps/pda unit for rapid pinpoint targetting and stove side cc.com posting via satellite uplink while on route.
  8. I know that guy!
  9. I was in a mood.... I like that CBS. Just watch, I'll forget my TP next outing. I hope it is not with you
  10. m2=mychoice I find it easy to use, I like the brand history but it does not have the range they claim, but still better than other, purely digital beacons. I second b-rock's contention that there are many other factors to think about.
  11. I wanna party with you guys I'll slve away tho....Oct 1234 molartooth...goldenramp....ktemple.....
  12. 17. Yeah, we found out this weekend that he much prefers sending boulder problems to the exposure of long routes. He hasn't learned to fully trust the rope yet which is funny because he loves to rappel and jumar tall walls here at home. Some of the issue might have been the steepness of pitch of some of those climbs.
  18. No Doubt! web page
  19. David Parker Too true! Sounds like there is a quite a few kids down Smith way. Long drive for me too. I would make a four day weekend out of it. How about October weather wise?
  20. Yeah. They learned a lot of new words too. Kindergarten should be real interesting this morning. I think that was little larvea's first kid conversation about sex. It took place under the troll bridge apparently. She had all kinds of questions Hey now, my son was playing with Bionicles about that time, he knows nothing of those things...
  21. He has two that I can tell. Bring them along next time Trasky. It'll be a blast! Hey Chris T, Smith sounds good. How about You and Muffy setting that one up as I have not been there. Timmay, I thought you had a couple Gremlins of your own? Bug, Lee, your wives were home?! Mine was out partying Trask, where were you this weekend
  22. We're sorry you missed it too...More Mom's next time! We would have been better behaved and the kids might have got their teeth brushed after all the sugar.
  23. You got that right Figger 8! Photos now posted in the Gallery
  24. Sweet trip! It was good to meet all you guys. In attendance were Bug and his two girls, Dave Parker and his son, ChucK and his two kids, Leejams with the kids and the biggest, and well tempered, Malamute I have ever seen, Silent Dave, AKA Dave the Chisler, 11worth Dave, Drop 'em and Chop 'em Dave, I'm not a sport climber I just play one on TV Dave, or just plain Dave the Bailer and his twin climbing phenoms, Dave's friend Shawn and someone else's kid, and winner of the largest climbing family award, Hilweasel weighing in with eight kids and a girlfriend! Guest appearances by Viktor Kramer, who officiated the first annual Viktor Kramer Death Head Toss, Cleveland Ron a notorious local crag head, Jay the stoned local who came stumbling through the woods on his way to who knows where, and Larry the Tool, who upon discovering that we were the group from CC.com, doubled our fines for having vehicles and gave us citations for not having the kids on leashes. The psychic award goes to ChucK for finding us midday Sat. at a crag that isn't even on the map with no indication from us where we went, and the award for the Best Next Step in Life Idea goes to Shawn who is going to retire (at 38 or so) and become a ski and climbing guide Dave Parker came through with the gas grill and ribs were enjoyed by all and he bravely lead all the 5.3 cracks so that we could set top ropes for the kids, Bug scored large with the kids by bringing a whole bunch of glow sticks and sugared cereal (I drank so much beer that at one point I thought I was at a midget Rave party) Many thanks to Hilweasel for getting the ball rolling and just reserving the site and to Dave, I'm not a slave to fashion, the guy who reads but doesn't post, for hooking us with the killer local beta and setting us up on some sweet crags (and keeping me in stitches) Quote of the trip: "Your yacht will only go so fast and you can only drink so much scotch..."
