kevin, i did not get beat. i got an occasional spanking along with lots of other creative punishments. i still think its an appropriate punishment in som cases. and yeah folks are right, there are a lot of little terrors out there b/c their parents can't/won't don't set boundaries. these kids don't understand that there are appropriate behaviors for various settings and circumstances. i see it even at the youngest ages. parents who won't take a toy away from a toddler that won't share, no consequences for the pre-schooler having a tantrum, no punishment for the back talking grade schooler. yeah, it carries over. this always positive crap that people try just doesn't instill boundaries or respect.

hmmm....i was always raised with the idea that you can't hit first but you should hit last. i guess that doesn't work with the giant group hug life philosophy of kevbone eh?

i used to send my son out to run around the house 10 times when he got too worked up. usually settled down after lap 5

here's another example kevin, i'm sure you'll be shocked. when i was in pre-school i was a biter. when i got mad, i'd bite the other kids. went on for a while and no matter what the teacher did, i continued on. my mom tried all sorts of things to change this behavior and nothing seemed to be working. so one afternoon at home i bit one of my little friends so my mom bit me on the arm. and not very hard. but it shocked the heck out of me and i quit biting the other kids.

Rudy, I dont what I would do...but I can tell you what I would not do. Teach my child that if you hurt him I hurt you. kevin-- i have to ask why not? this is a common life occurence situation. you hurt someone, you might get hurt too.
