Cuzco is closer to 12,000 ft... RobBob's rule for the new century, after reading lots of crash stats over the years: Major airlines and american-owned smaller airlines only. Drove six hours each way across Venezuela to avoid Latin-American smaller planes.

"Finneran, you'll recall, was the passenger on an international flight in 1995 who, having been told he'd enjoyed enough liquor, responded by lowering his trousers and fecally sullying a nearby food cart. " The guy was an investment banker in his 50s, in first class on a flight from Buenas Aires.

Damn JG, that coulda been me in the bad old days on Sabena! (wrong side of the pond)---hell no, I made a mistake...I meant to imply that I was that playuh-guy...never puked myself on a plane! Your drunken passenger post reminds me of the ultimate story. Google-search Gerard Finneran.

Interesting Euro city not on the tourist list: Bucuresti. Boulevards like Paris, nice-looking people, good food.

something similar to fern's experience happened to me outbound on Air India: 2 hours into the flight, curry is served. Halfway across the Atlantic, johns are clogged and stinking. Also, diapers are being tossed into the aisle. Nasty flight.

Bet some of you have some good ones. I've had experiences ranging from an invitation long ago to the mile-high club (a female thank god) to watching people get clapped in irons upon arriving at destination. Hardest landing: AirIndia 747, heavy t-storm, JFK in midst of Reagan air controller strike. Best Lightshow: JAL, north of Fairbanks, aurora borealis, 1989. A couple of years ago, I read in Nat'l Geographic that this particular night had the most intense northern lights in something like 50 years. Pre-Sep 11 Innocence: Swissair pilots let my wife and I tour the 747 cockpit in-flight over the Atlantic.

What I also meant to get across is that we are supposed to have a sense of duty about certain things. A sense of duty reminds you to do for others and put your own needs off for a time. If we all can expect each other to step up to the plate during key times in life, that's a good thing. Predictable behavior is a good thing in stressful times. It's an ingredient of a close-knit community.

Bumbly Tech alumni signing off for the day.

Greg W a wahoo?! I too moved to Houston (after MBA), which was a good work move but awful life experience...

hey Sobo, you didn't live in Lee dorm, did you? There was a guy at the end of my hall who I distinctly remember on the last day to resign w/o penalty. I came back from class, and this dude was yelling "Hey Rob, you better get over there and resign...everybody's doing it!"

"Re: Stupid Shit (Dr. Flash Amazing)" ...uu-oo, what's it say now?
-
this is a smartass comment, isn't it?

actually Greg, potability is not an issue...otherwise everything in the 3rd world would've collapsed by now...

never went rock climbing while at Tech, but hiked a lot. Also got caught parking/smoking on what turned out to be the police firing range on Brush Mtn. Was with a girl-not-my-girlfriend...conversation went something like this: "Mr. RobBob, you don't want to go down to Montgomery County courthouse tonight, do you?" "Sir, you do not know how much I do not want to do that tonight!!"
-
gt, no Richard Simmonses at VaT! Sobo, then you had the mechanical drawing class where you actually had to print pages of lettering. That was a real winner.

Dag, we were right there together w/in a year of each other...I graduated in Civil Engr, started school in the Fall of '78. Remember it like it was yesterday...finished dove-hunting with my dad outside Richmond, handed him my gun, and said "Gotta head to college." He looked at me and said "Wish I was going with you." We had FORTRAN cards, and my instructor actually counted how many times you ran the deck before you got it to run...
