    Japan

Nope. No break in pointing out to fuckwits the logical consequences of their demagoguery. Without "big government" regulations, literally millions of Japanese would be dead this morning.

I can't tell if you are joking but anyone who doesn't appreciate the role played by regulations and hazard management in keeping down the casualty count for a disaster of this magnitude in a hyper densely populated area is clueless.

you are a one track record. boring. I certainly never tire of rubbing the nose of free market zealots in their own poop. How does it smell, moron?

wasn't god behind the Japanese commission that decided what building standards were needed to sustain a magnitude ~9 earthquake?

Hey, but IRA terrorists don't commit suicide at the same time so it's not as wicked. [/clown]

Horrific, but catastrophism doesn't mean we need "big government" regulating the construction industry or spending money on "overlord" government scientists to monitor tsunami hazard. Let the "free market" rule, cut the public budget, deregulate some more and it'll be fine (the free market tooth fairy told me).

It's going to take a mighty pile of cash from the Koch brothers to get Walker (re)elected to anything from now on.

I am not sure this is a good thing if they continue agreeing with the neanderthals about cutting wages, benefits and refusing bailouts for main street after they serviced the banksters.
  13. That must be why it takes a 2 income family to make it today when one income family was sufficient in the post war period. Your interpretation of this graph doesn't even pass the smell test. AND no, people aren't more wealthy today nor do they spend more on unnecessary items: purchases of tv screen, running shoes, watches etc has actually gone down as a fraction of income.
  14. This winner takes all philosophy appears to be quite pathological as even some of its victims think it's great.
  15. Here we go again: JayB is still pretending that real wages haven't gone down for most people over the last 30 years.
  16. What is this drivel? Public sector employees are certainly not an "overlord class" as is reflected in their compensation being smaller than private sector workers with comparable education. Enough "catapulting of the propaganda" Billcoe!
  17. Classic JayB non-sequitur.
  18. Nearly a year after the oil disaster began, Gulf Coast residents are sick, and dying from BP's toxic chemicals. [..] Many of the chemicals present in the oil and dispersants are known to cause headaches, nausea, vomiting, kidney damage, altered renal function, and irritation of the digestive tract. They have also caused lung damage, burning pain in the nose and throat, coughing, pulmonary edema, cancer, lack of muscle coordination, dizziness, confusion, irritation of the skin, eyes, nose, and throat, difficulty breathing, delayed reaction time and memory difficulties. Further health problems include stomach discomfort, liver and kidney damage, unconsciousness, tiredness/lethargy, irritation of the upper respiratory tract, hematological disorders, and death. Pathways of exposure to the chemicals are inhalation, ingestion, skin, and eye contact. [..] "We have sick people from Apalachicola, Florida, to Grand Isle, Louisiana, and it's not stopping and that's what's disturbing," Billups said. "The levels we are seeing are not dropping, and we're seeing new chemicals now. We gave some of our blood test results to [EPA head] Lisa Jackson. They know what is going on, and they are not doing anything about it." "The saddest part is the children," Billups added. "We’re seeing young children with extremely high levels of chemicals. We're altering our DNA and our bodies forever, We're a bunch of guinea pigs." Gulf spill sickness wrecking lives

  21. In the EU: Nuclear fusion research receives € 750 million (excluding ITER funding [10 billions]), compared with € 810 million for all non-nuclear energy research combined,[18] putting research into fusion power well ahead of that of any single rivaling technology.
  22. I never said to stop research but nuclear fission power has shown to be very expensive and fraught with problems.
  23. but the amount of funding is proportional to our assessment of each technology to provide to our needs in due time
  24. I didn't say we should stop voting, on the contrary in fact, I suggested that lack of voters set the stage to make stealing elections possible.
