what didn't I understand in your statement that voter suppression by the GOP wasn't an issue? I'll repeat them as long as you keep dodging.
-
honestly though, you are missing the point - if the economy was roaring along few would be harshing on the donkies right now - Democrats were told that the stimulus was too small especially considering that half of it were tax cuts that did little to create jobs. If Dems had been seen to go to bat for mainstreet instead of repeatedly caving in to the banksters (O's team right of Goldman Sachs, bailout without strings, no effective re-rgulation of wall street, etc..) many fewer would be harsh on Democrats.
-
I know we don't disagree but I wanted to once again point out that TVash isn't touching how the Dems voting record in congress under Bush validated Nader's candidacy.
-
The GOP prevented 70,000 primarily low income people from voting in Florida 2000 on the basis that their name was similar to that of convicted felons. It has been shown that ~40,000 of them weren't felons. Gore "lost" by less than a 1000 votes because GOP operatives rioted to prevent a recount. And TVash blames Nader, and absolves the GOP goons. What a crock of shit.

Nader and Rossi have about the same level of integrity. No, wait, I stand corrected...Rossi actually pays his workers. Smears is all you have. Shame on you.
-
ACORN registers millions, and you think their attackers won? Um...OK. you don't know that ACORN folded, i.e. the thugs destroyed the most effective tool we had, with the help of Democrats in congress?
-
Nader is no fool. He has seen Democrats pulling that shit for 30+ years. What do you want him to say? let's vote for the lesser of 2 evils?
-
by opposition to doing more or less the same as Bush and calling it progress?
-
could it have to do with the corporate media that you keep defending? and the Democratic Party that refuses to mobilize and amplify social movements?
-
your ignorance is astounding. Without progressive social movements forcing establishment politicians to act nothing would have changed.
-
There is a good reason why voter suppression has been been critical to GOP tactics for so long (they can control policy with ~25% of the potential vote), and why they went after ACORN that registered millions (and they won by destroying it). What did Democrats do on that one, perhaps TVash will remind us of the ACORN defunding bill many of them voted for.
-
I said "MIDDLE swing vote", not 'swing vote'. Pay attention. There are more people on Obama's left than on the "middle" between 2 corporate parties.
-
The change you are making happen is going the wrong way.
-
just what I said: who needs baggers with Democrats like you. "GO GET A JOB, LAZY FUCK" is that your best Archie Bunker imitation?
-
Whatever the outcome of the mid-term elections the myth of a "middle swing vote" will be the main message pushed by the corporate media, and DLC Democrats to provide cover for austerity in the form of attacks on Social Security, medicare, unions, pensions, etc while they keep on with the warmongering. A sure recipe for letting people know their voting doesn't matter.

"Voter turnout in this season’s primary elections was low for Democrats across the nation. In fact, a CBS special report found that the Democratic turnout in Oklahoma was the lowest on record. Conversely, Republican turnout is very high nationwide and Republican turnout in Oklahoma set a record high." http://capitolbeatok.com/CustomContentRetrieve.aspx?ID=3525827 but now they are predicting the highest voter turnout for a mid-term in history? I think Oregon is expecting >70% turnout.
-
and you'd likely be wrong. The demographics that vote the least is disenfranchised youth. Youth is the demographics most consistently on the left.
-
kinda hard to gather data on people who aren't giving it, no? Just sayin... who needs baggers when we have Democrats like you. This very weekend there was an article in the LA Times about a poll that showed just what I said. Opinion polls on most issues (wars, taxing the wealthy, minimum wage, SS, etc) show a majority of folks on Obama's left. 2/3 of those who criticize the health care bill say it doesn't go far enough. etc ..
-
The GOP is far right and they have been winning while most Americans are on Obama's left. Most people who don't vote (often the majority) are liberals. It is 30+ years of moving to the right by the Democratic party that has enabled the far right.
-
To be sure, many of the protesters were Democrats but where was the political leadership? What did the Democratic party do with this unusually massive mobilization to show people weren't fooled by the lies at that moment? They did nothing. but I note that you didn't touch the post preceding the one you answered.
-
we certainly won't ask from regressives to appreciate the role of consumer advocates like Nader since they spend most of their time trying to dismantle regulations and agencies designed to protect average Americans against corporate greed.
-
what an important contribution that was. Thank you PP.
-
There were millions of Americans in the street in 2003 to protest the march to war against Iraq. Where were the fucking Democrats?
-
I don't understand this. Didn't Bush get pretty much everything he wanted (wars, tax cuts, new bankruptcy laws, extremists on the supreme court, etc) even though he never had a filibuster proof majority? Did one Democrat in the senate step up to contest the 2000 coup d'etat? How does it not show that Nader was right about the Dems in congress? For the record, your vile attacks on Nader are disgusting. Nader has accomplished more for average Americans than the entire political class in Washington.
