  1. What? Willamette Pass is a ski resort. That is where this telemark festival is. What of it?

Wha? If you're referring to the funky 70's-esque animation at the start with the awful music, then yes.
  5. whoops, I mean tabulating votes for the Nixon election...

That would be Ira Flatow....I dug it when he hosted Newton's Apple back in the day...
  7. trask registered on 12/31/69. He's had the time to crank 'em out. Posting on an ENIAC and stuff when it wasn't tabulating votes for the Kennedy elections
  8. chrisT looks like there's a bit of seismic activity up there, the south side's looking a little tilted. Nth face just turned into an extreme route!!

    What's in your SUV?

isn't that the disney logo in the corner?
  10. Often I do not carry a GPS when climbing due to the significant weight penalty. However if it is a lower angle snow thing and the weather is touch and go I consider it. I use an older model, the Garmin 12xl. It has a superior built-in antenna to the newer eTrex things. I had a session with the Garmin rep about this and he said to make the eTrex light and small enough, a significant amount of shielding had to be removed. The 12xl is fairly heavy, but has been a proven workhorse over the years and isn't dumbed-down with silly graphics. There's something nice about leaving it behind and having confidence with map and compass too.

rock pro on BT... nice work! some of us were oggling that line last time in to do 11'o'clock C. Some dude in Bend has been climbing some of that stuff and some new ice stuff on S. Sister...was that your partner?
  12. but if you have been using these apps for years, I'm sure my above post is old news to you...
  13. I can see problems exporting to PDF to the Windows world, but jpegs? That's pretty unusual. Again, Illustrator really shouldn't have anything to do with jpeg. You could save the file, place it in Photoshop, and save for web. As for PDF export, if you have Acrobat Distiller I'd try exporting your Illustrator files to EPS and process them in Distiller and watch the logs carefully, particularly if they involve any unusual fonts. I usually convert all fonts in Illustator to outlines first anyways if I'm exporting to a new format. Adobe export to PDF in InDesign, Illustrator, etc have had some issues in the past when I've sent spreads off to press. It's usually best to quit out of applications after you are done with them, but OS X can stay running. I have been running continuously for 3 months without a restart. Our X server had an uptime of almost a year before a software upgrade.

I thought that M. Albright interview this morning was interesting. She's probably the one who best knows the bigwigs in N. Korea.
  15. Might see you guys up there as I tour the southside once again, that is, if the epoxy on my Tuas sets correctly. Hope snow conditions are as good as they were last Sunday.
  16. I guess better that than people charging ahead with the expeditions who think they have plenty of traction with the stock setup.
  17. Felt the same way on Photoshop myself. For instance my shortcut keys periodically disappear on me. Huge waste of time. The performance increases more than make up for these problems though. I use Illustrator less, but think Illustrator is getting too bulky. They're trying to make it do stuff it was not really meant to do.

    What's in your SUV?

I thought the P in HPLC was for "performance"? Been awhile since I was doing any organic chemistry though. And I like it that way
  22. only drift here is your thread drift
  23. are you saying 6" of snow requires an SUV? My '85 camry's been through much worse than that...
  24. Nothing like a backcountry ski festival at a lift-serviced resort!

    etiquette

Probably not. Skiing has a practical side as a mode of realistic transportation in winter. Snowboarding, less so. The scandinavians knew what they were doing with 2 planks rather than 1.
