I have a great boulder in my back yard, I am not worryed about fallling and hurting myself on the 30 feet or so routs, but resently my long time girl friend and a few of her girl friend have showed an interest in the sport but all of them are... well... kind of girly girls... I have never palced a bolt in a rock... ever... and would like to top rope this boulder so they can learn to climb an fell comfotable with falling. How do I go about placing bolts?

Rodeo has go a piont here... If your going to be an out door sports equitment dealer, and climbing is one of the sports, then carry the gear... even online you would think that there would be more solection, but there isn't... I don't know about up in seattle but the REI in Eugene, you stand at the counter for a half hour waiting for someone to help you, but no one does because you might ask them a question that they don't know the answer to... If they don't climb then don't put them in the climbing section of the store...

Hey Anna, I usally climb a number of the volcanos during the summer... Actually a group of us do two women and three of us guys, do plenty of climbing backpacking and just F@#% off hikes through the Oregon cascades... usally start in late april-october though, your mostly fighting fires... We are all from Eugene though...

You will deffenetly wont to climb from north to south, the north sister takes the most energy to climb... you can get to the best climbing ridge up the north bitch via Scotts pass... only need minamal gear unless your going in the snow... I hate the snow, unless its in little drinking water patches...

So wheres everybody goin' climbing this weekend... you know it's friday, and if you don't have it figured out yet than... shit ... your a slacker... I was planing on going over to smith, but the yard work has been calling... but i'm going to excape to my back yard, and do some bouldering on Pecker rock, Yellow rock, Beer piont, Hot tub springs, and the Sony stones... All are located in the coburg hills just east of eugene oregon... in my back yard, 1-8 miles from my house... have fun this weekend and climb with passion...

I like dryed foods because they are lite... One of my favorites to bring is power rice... dryed pork... I agree with erik on this one guys... If your going to bitch about the "proper rout, and the proper tecnique" for the rout then you got your nose to far up in the air for the likes of me... Its not about using the hardest holds as much as it is doing the rout confidetly... If you have to use the easyer holds to make it to the top with confidence then more power to you... if you prefer to use the harder manuvers, then thats great too, just don't dogg me for the way I choose to climb a rout...
