I've never been there, but Tahquitz Canyon just outside of Palm Springs would have better weather than J-Tree in December. Someone who knows what they are talking about can tell you if this is really a good idea or not climbingwise, but I can tell you the weather would probably be good. Palm Springs is not far from J-Tree, but the elevation's lower.

Sorry I'm late in responding, couldn't let the whole weekend go by without going in the woods for a bit. My point is that when Steffi said something about sport climbing, you said something like 'rock on, my Icelandic brother.' I seek the same 'exotic origin' waiver as I am from a place with an exotic name. I think the objection a few are expressing may have more to do with your singularity of focus, dissing sport climbing and sport climbers. I don't recall ever having called any female posters either of those names. It's not my style. Not a name caller. Had to get clarification from lesbian women. Not a lesbian woman myself, try to be sensitive. I think there are a lot of things like this. It wouldn't particularly offend me if someone called me the 'N' word, but I know enough not to call people this. If you're not sure if 'bulldyke' is offensive, I encourage you to call evey woman you know that for one whole day. That might give you a sense of whether or not it is. Heck in my household I was never exposed to a lot of sort of colorful language, for years I thought the bad Jewish word was 'Kite.'
