I'm planning to climb it this season and I'm wondering what is the best method to accomplish this. How many partners would be best? How many days to plan for. How much should the backpacks weigh? What approach would be the most probable. How much rock protection? What is a K.E.R.? ect.... what length and size of rope? Any thoughts on these things would be appreciated.

Okay! That works for me. -
What is different about it compared to the old one? The gri gri that is. What about that little dmm device for rappelling and using a munter for belaying?

"cheap looking gear might earn sympathy from clients and yield better tips." I've climbed with guides here and there over the years as well as on my own and I've seen a few of them try to gain sympathy in this way. It is fairly easy for a client to pick up on this tactic and if they do, they will quickly loose some of the respect they had for you initially. It might gain you a bigger tip, but it would come with a loss of hard won respect. I would just ask myself what is more important and remember that you are representing the company your working for as well as and perhaps more importantly the mountain guides of America who have worked hard to gain the respect that you hold now.

I'm looking to head into the Pickets 3 or 4 times this summer. I have been in there once before and found it to be an interesting and Challenging place. I'd be interested in climbing any of the climbs mentioned in Alan Kearney's book of Northwest Classics. A traverse without any mountain top objectives would also be an option that would not be easy and would require actual climbing over and around passes and such. 3 or more people in the group would be best

I have these days off and would be up for doing pretty much anything from Mt. Baker to Squamish, Leavenworth, Washington Pass, a long day on Snoqualmie Pass ie The Tooth ect.... or Maybe Guye

Anybody want to go climb for a couple days. I have a rack. Will climb with inexperienced people as long as they know how to belay. I can lead to 5.8 or maybe 9 or follow into the 10's.

I have a Marmot Alpinist (circa 1995) and have used it in pouring down rain while out on my Boston Whaler type boat with very good luck, but have not needed it or used it much while climbing. When I climbed Denali with American Alpine Institute in 2007, the guide Seth Hobby said not to even bring it on the climb, I didn't and had no problems and didn't need it. I brought a Marmot Dri Climb, wild things belay jacket and a Fethered friends goose down Parka. This was in May of that year, perhaps things are different later in the season.... -

What I mean is to simply make a plan and then pick off some peaks in systematic fashion. We could come up with a plan a and a plan b approach that accounts for weather ect. Peaks to 5.8 maybe 5.9, grades II - V -
Looking for a few partners to go out and knock off some alpine classics in Washington or Canada. I'm off for that entire time so if somebody else has this time off as well, then we could plan something massive. 206-412-3820
