  1. Whoah, I got chills running down my spine reading that. I lived in NJ for a year and didn't get any climbing all that time, but rode a road bike for consolation, and I used to see how fast I could go down hills like you were doing. Pretty darn fast, turns out. I would not like to come off flying down the hill like that. Good thing you're OK man!

I'm up for some riding sometime btw. I need to get my bike fixed up a little bit, so can't really say anything time-wise.

That's what I love about this site: The naked hostility.

I've been going with porters lately, myself. I'm kind of running out of dark brews for sampling though, might have to start a second run through the stouts soon or figure out something new. Got ideas?

Btw best thing ever: Tinted glass and those silly reflective screens for the windshield. Got off a climb last weekend and the car had been cooking in the sun all day. Inside all was mellow and the beer was quite drinkable. If I could only make my car pull that trick (no, I don't have any money to spend on it...) rolleyes.gif

  3. I have no idea how we started that thing. I beat Wayne with the #4 Camalot until he let me lead the first pitch, then promptly got lost somewhere on those slabs. I was to the right of the east face route but left of Tooth and Claw I think. The most interesting bit was a sidepull move with steep slab for feet and flagging my left hand, with a good yellow camalot 30' below and to the right. I didn't dare do it until I found an orange TCU placement about 10' to my right. In retrospect that was so crappy I might as well have stuck the cam in my ear, but it felt very reassuring at the time. But we were on route on the east face from the 5.8 crack pitch and up.

  4. Styled that actually, short and entertaining fat ow overhanging face climbing mix, but got a bit fed up with the lower angle ow further up. You know, after the tenth time going yay-this-is-the-last-of-it things got a bit old. Superb route, you just have to know how to climb that stuff to really appreciate it I think. One of these days.

I've got a pair of Cobras that I'll sell for $360 ($180 less than a new pair). They are good tools, and in good shape, but I feel that the grips are too big for my hands.

They can come with either a new pair of Stinger picks, or a used (but sharpened) pair of Cobra picks.

Colin, the trick is to take off the rubber. The diameter shrinks and you will find that the sensitivity improves a whole lot.

  6. Hey, no more semantics. Get back to the game already.

So far catturd, Dave Schuldt, erik and iain lead and stand to win a piece of duct tape with their name on it if they show up at pub club! Wearing on helmet is optional, bold leaders may choose to wear the name tag on their butts.

    hitler youth

I hadn't thought of that. I guess in the States the NRA is the closest thing to the Hitler youth?

    You're clueless. hellno3d.gifrolleyes.gif

yeah flebby, you totally forgot the Greg_W Youth Fan Club (all 2 members) rolleyes.gif

You don't really have much more of a clue, Dru. Come visit the States, let's discuss TRUE freedom.

    Ah, forgot about Idaho. Oops.

Actually I kind of got remorseful over my NRA Hitler youth joke. BOO-HOO sniffles. Who'da thunk?

  8. Well, I think it's kind of funny. It's even funnier to think of all the time he spends scratching his head trying to make simple things complicated. Reminds me of my little brother.

Smith is slowly turning into a limestone crag. I'm sure a future budding archaeologist will base her phd defence on the "ancient tropical reef colonies" of central oregon, where once roamed the mighty herds of subaruis outbackensis, living off macciatos and lasportiva free tibet stickers.

AH-HAH! You finally screwed up. Proof irrefutable, iain = DFA.

  10. Alright, time to play a fun little game. Of all the people who post on this board, who is the biggest Mountie?

After counting the nominations we can award the winner a new piece of duct tape with their name on it, to replace the old one. It'll be swell.
