How about an Aid Climbing catagory? It would be good to have a place where other Wall Rats could get beta, find new partners, share tips and swap lies. There's one specific to ice conditions.

If the Banff Mountain Film Festival was not enough of a fix, another option: Town Hall 1119 Eighth Ave, 652-4255 MOUNTAINFILM IN TELLURIDE Sat Jan 19 at 5, 8 MOUNTAINFILM IN TELLURIDE In a state lousy with film festivals (Colorado), Mountainfilm stands out as being a "climbing-related" event, which is to say that the shorts presented here all have something to do with rocks or climbing them, to which I say: Chomp on, granolas! Anyone know of a website for the Canadian equivalent of "Topozone.com". I can't get the BC map I need locally and need to get a look at one before casting off. [ 12-24-2001: Message edited by: Wired Knut ]

"If the conquest of a great peak brings moments of exultation and bliss, which in the monotonous, materialistic existence of modern times nothing else can approach, it also presents great dangers. It is not the goal of grand alpinisme to face peril, but it is one of the tests one must undergo to deserve the joy of rising for an instant above the state of crawling grubs. On this proud and beautiful mountain we have lived hours of fraternal, warm and exalting nobility. Here for a few days we have ceased to be slaves and have really been men. It is hard to return to servitude". -Lionel Terray

I've been backcountry skiing for a while now and have a couple pairs of Ascension climbing skins. A good product, but would like to expand my horizons. Have new AT setup and need a pair. Any feedback on Pomocca, Coll-Tex or Montana would be appreciated.

Did the route over the June 30 - July 1 weekend. A little damp in places, the green ones. Looks like it does not get done too often! I would suggest the left hand side of the crux (5.9) move as opposed to the right hand thin crack that the guide book recommends.
