  1. Thanks Cavie the feelings are mutual, but we gotta work on that grammar, or maybe the hair on your palms is getting in the way of your typing??? Anyway, off to spend some time with Jingle, Santa's naughty daughter!!! happy holidays, xxxmas, kwanza, or whatever your personal pref. miker
  2. Well I weigh 200# and I have yet to get a one-handed, now I'll have to go check my 2 handed number. But I had a 90# friend who is a ballerina, no really I am serious, and she just walked up the wall on a 10b her first climb ever and kept getting better. And she complained that the ultratight climbing shoes were kinda loose. Her feet are actually shaped like a high performance slipper from all the years of wearing those ballet shoes. Maybe foot-binding should come back into vogue for getting those young climbers into their shoes??? Thank God it's Friday miker
  3. I don't need a riding lawnmower....just get me a saddle for your lady and she can graze.... See ya'll at hattie's
  4. Hey now Ralph, this is a family board, when I have to go DO stuff with your girlfriend, I try to keep it on the down-low for the kiddies benefit. Now when I have to go do stuff with Cavey's girl, I bring the clippers and a raw steak.... miker
  5. I think I might make it. I am giving blood before hand so I will even be a cheap drunk, instead of just cheap and drunk. miker
  6. Hey Ralph, I called in a couple hours later to check how I did. I am waiting for them to put up the scores on the website so I can see the spread of points between categories. I was curious how close to the beginner/intermediate cutoff I really was. So did I miss any exciting raffle prizes? miker
  7. Well I got second place in Men's Beginner, which is sorta the same as second from last in intermediate. It was a fun day, good routes, only one good stemming route though and lots of slopers. The dyno's were excellent, especially the super high one on the lead wall. I never did complete it, but the commintment of jumping up with all your strength when you are already 8+ feet off the ground gets the blood going, and when you miss the grab, as I am wont to do, the freefall is excellent as you fly back down. But now I am sore, and feeling slightly old. miker
  8. Well I am all signed up as a beginner with aspirations of being upgraded. Kinda like with frequent flier miles, chances are small... Anyone else gonna be there?? miker
  9. Well it looks like I might be going on a cruise that stops in Cabo for a day around New Years. How close are the cruise ship docks to the boulderable stuff? I saw info on Lover's Beach and if a taxi boat is only $2 to take me there I might go scramble around. Unless you were gonna be there around the same time Dave. miker
  10. I might be up for this.If I can climb all V0's and half the V1s and select V2s and 3s which category am I in? Super beginners? miker
  11. OK, folks It is Monday, most of us are back at work. Here is something for you to waste some time on. What music directly or indirectly makes you think of climbing? Not what music do you like while climbing, we had that discussion, this is actual themed/related songs. The song I will throw out that made me think climbing even though it is not exactly about that is BNL's "When I Fall". Here are the lyrics. Oh and I guess John Denver's Rocky Mountain High would fit in this category too. When I Fall (words by Steven Page & Ed Robertson, music by Ed Robertson) I look straight in the window, try not to look belowPretend I'm not up here, try counting sheepBut the sheep seem to shower off this office towerNine-point-eight straight down I can't stop my knees I wish I could flyFrom this buildingAnd if I should tryWould you catch me If I fall? My hands clench the squeegee, my secular rosaryhang on to your wallet, hang on to your ringsCan't look below me, or something might throw meCurse at the windstorms that October bringsI look in the boardroom; a modern pharaoh's tombI'd gladly swap places, if they care to dive They're lined up at the window, peer down into limboThey're frightened of jumping, in case they survive I wish I could step from this scaffoldOnto soft green pastures, shopping malls, or bedWith my family and my pastor and my grandfather who'sDead (chorus) Look straight in the mirror, watch it come clearerI look like a painter, behind all the greaseBut painting's creating, and I'm just erasingA crystal-clear canvas is my masterpiece (chorus)
  12. Hey you pothead, Cascade Crags has the ice wall with dry tooling and wood blocks and everything. I don't use it, but I hear it is worth trying out. Tell me when you are going and I might drop by to make fun of ya. miker
  13. North Bend in a hot tub with nakedness dancing and the kind. Wonder if my digital camera can catch a shooting star? miker
  14. Vertical Limit was the shit... "There's rock, ice AND snow up there....were gonna need special equipment!" Or was it just shit? I still have the image of the opening scene stuck in my head though, chink chink chink slice THUD! miker
  15. Not gonna make it this week, but drink one for me, ah hell drink a couple it's been a lousy day. So how about we go out trick or beering tomorrow??? We all slap on the climbing duds and if we don't get a beer we climb peoples houses using pitons and ice axes and if we're feeling uppity we could even freesolo the offwidth garage. or whatever. miker
  16. J-TreeClimbing GymJ-TreeSan Diego for Christmas miker
  17. Thank You whoever you are my fairy rate mother.
  18. Well I don't have a rating, but I think Holly and Cavie have been vastly underrated, I give them each 6...5.5?? ok 5, but that is the lowest I will go. OK now I can go lower *hic* I love this not having to type all that [img()&%()*&^] stuff. miker
  19. Hey all, So Cascade Crags has new floors I hear, they got rid of the pebbles and moved to foam or carpet or something. I am gonna go climb ~5-7 and would love someone to ropeup with. I will be the tall guy with long hair, piercing blue eyes and a rapier wit, or was I just pierced with a rapier?? Anyhoo, If I see ya there I see ya there. miker
  20. Will, She did indeed have a lot of blood soaking into her shoulder, wish I had known who was you I woulda said hi. She was trying to make up a good story about the blood soaked shoulder, but basically she just opened up a non-climbing related wound when she replaced the bandage that morning and then the climbing just exacerbated the issue. 21. Hey texplorer, was the lady who complained about your dogs belaying someone up Wedding Day in the Dihedrals? If so that was my partner and there were a shitload of dogs being a nuisance around the climbs. I love dogs as much as the next guy, but keep them off my ropes, and make sure they are trained well enough so that they allow you to hear your climber yell take/slack/crap!! And I saw at least three dog fights out there as well. I mean nature is cool, but that is a bit too earthy. I had an excellent time at Smith's, just go where the crowds aren't, i.e.-get away from the dihedrals and head to the backside or the marsupials or whatever.(of course it was my first time there ever, so I have nothing to compare it to) miker
  22. I'll be at Pike's, have to find a birthday present for a friend and I get to drink, Bonus. miker
  23. Drove to Smith for the first time ever this weekend, hooked up with a partner through a connection here in CC.com. She then showed me around Morning Glory Wall, excellent buckets into thin Smithlike holds. Then over asterisk pass to the backside and a fun 5.7 up to a 5.10b and then the 5.11a which she made look easy and I flailed up, did all the moves, but a couple of hangs to rest. Then a trad 5.8 and then back around to the Dihedrals for me to lead Wedding Day, 5.10b, which I finished with a little whimpering. Sunday more fun after a long hike out to the Marsupials. A fun 5.9 on the front of Koala rock, Suck My Kiss. Then Ryan's Arete which is a really awkward 5.10c Julie worked for a while before finishing. Then up the same wall a little to a 5.11a, which was fun although the rock at the crux was a little scary. And the final climb of the day a long fun 5.9/10a lead up the Mudslide Wall which was an excellent finish, with fun knobs making the super long pitch extremely fun, almost froze in the wind over the top as I belayed. A few drops of rain hit us as we packed up, but the coolness of the day kept the crowds down and let us stick to the rock. I gotta go back there soon. Miker
  24. Could it be that danielpatricksmith opened a letter with no return address and is feeling a little under the weather. I would say a big spoonful of antibiotics and stay off my favorite rocks you sickie. Or it could just be that DPS is working to hard and needs to get out on something less horizontal than his desk and work out the funk. PS-DPS makes me think of college and the "Department of Public Safety", we always made fun of them too. " miker
  25. Well I have hooked up with Julie and it looks to be a fun weekend, hopefully she won't leave me in the dust to early. miker
