I spend nearly all of my work time on AI, andhave been using 10 for a while. But there are still so many f'in bugs. And the adobe help forum is about as helpful as a second asshole.

Any of you other AI wankers share the same frustration?

Felt the same way on Photoshop myself. For instance my shortcut keys periodically disappear on me. Huge waste of time. The performance increases more than make up for these problems though. I use Illustrator less, but think Illustrator is getting too bulky. They're trying to make it do stuff it was not really meant to do.

I have the sam problem in AI where all the sudden my hotkeys don't work, and I use them all the time. In fact I rarely use the toolbars.

I have problems when I save as a PDF, where if I transfer it onto a windows network, the file won't work. And I've tried all the different options, and done the extensions correctly. The same thing happens with jgs.

Also, when I save as a pdf I often get "error -42 cannot be be created, illustrator is having difficulites". So I have to revert to 8 and save the pdf.

I did not bother making the inital switch to 10, but have recently switched to jaguar, and find it much less buggy, really stable, etc... have not had problems running photoshop, have not worked with AI lately.

I can see problems exporting to PDF to the Windows world, but jpegs? That's pretty unusual. Again, Illustrator really shouldn't have anything to do with jpeg. You could save the file, place it in Photoshop, and save for web. As for PDF export, if you have Acrobat Distiller I'd try exporting your Illustrator files to EPS and process them in Distiller and watch the logs carefully, particularly if they involve any unusual fonts. I usually convert all fonts in Illustator to outlines first anyways if I'm exporting to a new format. Adobe export to PDF in InDesign, Illustrator, etc have had some issues in the past when I've sent spreads off to press.

It's usually best to quit out of applications after you are done with them, but OS X can stay running. I have been running continuously for 3 months without a restart. Our X server had an uptime of almost a year before a software upgrade. Geek_em8.gifGeek_em8.gifGeek_em8.gifGeek_em8.gif
