aso26 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I lost my dad when I was ten, and although I do know many things about him, I would like a few stories from those who knew him in his life before me. Jim Stuart was a photographer and a climber from the time he was a teen. He climbed in the Sierras in the early '70's and made a number of first ascents with Fred Becky in the late '60's in the North Cascades. He worked for Ascent magazine. He also spent time in Nepal and overseas in the mid '70s working for Mountain Travel and REI. I'm hoping to find contact info for some of his old cohorts to hear a few stories and get to know something about my dad before everyone who knew him is gone. Quote
Bronco Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 If you don't have any luck here, check www.turns-all-year.com as there seems to be a much more crotchety attitude and likely an older crew who may have known your Dad. Quote
num1mc Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I would suggest that you try SuperTopo. They have a lot of older posters. http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/forum.php Quote
Pete_H Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Try supertopo forums. Lots of old dudes on that site. Quote
BootsandPants Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 there seems to be a much more crotchety attitude Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks that. Sorry to add nothing but snarkiness; good luck with your info search Quote
