Eric K Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) I love my lynx but hate the heal lever. I was thinking of replacing it since the petzl version digs into my boot too much. It can become painful it it is worn long periods of time. I wanted to buy some grivel heel levers and use those on my crampons instead. Has anyone done this, is there any problems with this setup? beezer Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Eric, I did just that on my Lynx. Works great. Quote
Jon H Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I've also used BD heel levers on my Darts with no problems to speak of, even on some hard mixed with monopoint torquing. Quote
Dane Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Of the two, BD heels work better and are easier to get. Been doing it for years on Petzls. Quote
ChrisCNY Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Does anyone know where I can buy just a BD heel? Quote
Dane Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Complete Lever set up? BD customer service @ 1-800. Complete heel set up? May be the same but wouldn't bet on it. Quote
ChrisCNY Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Dane - So, when you say you swap the Petzl parts for the Black Diamond pieces, are you referring to the lever-lock or the whole heal piece (spikes and all)? I'm currently using Lynx crampons coming from Sabertooth's. I agree and like the BD lever better, so I'd like to switch the Petzl lever to a BD if that's possible? Quote
Dane Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 You can only switch the levers not the entire heel pieces. Easy switch. Last ones I bought were around $15 each ($30 a pair) IIRC. Easy through BD customer service. BD levers on a Petzl Dartwin. If you still have the Sabers just pull them off and use 'um. Not like you'll hurt them any. Quote
