ckohnstamm Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Started off from the Glacier Road at 3, and road walked for several minutes before hit solid snow for about a thousand feet of vertical before the trailhead. From here, we made some route mistakes, costing us time getting out of tree line. Once out of tree line, we used ski crampons all the way to the pass on the Coleman-Demming. David heading to the ridgeline. He is getting ready for Denali in a few days, so this was some fun training! Car to summit took us a little over eight hours, with some road walking and route finding errors mixed in. Skiing off the summit at noon was perfect, just soft enough up top and not yet dangerous on the lower sections. Yours truly on the Roman Wall Quote
JasonG Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Excellent day, eh? We were taking a break at the col when you came zipping by on the descent. Now you will know the Grouse Creek path for an easier go of it next time. Once you have it dialed, it goes quite fast. Quote
jordansahls Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 You know, I'm embarrassed to admit it, but this last week out was my first time going up Grouse Creek. I have done Baker many many times and after going up the creek this last weekend I'm hitting myself for not doing it earlier. It is so much faster, with way more enjoyable skiing. Live and learn, I guess. Quote
Otto Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 That first photo is a beautiful study in Blue. Thanks for posting it. Quote
