dkemp Posted December 5, 2002 Posted December 5, 2002 I have maps and that book (dont get me started ). But I wonder if anyone has been into the Nebesna for the North Ridge of Blackburn. I'm considering this for May. Dox Quote
Fairweather Posted December 5, 2002 Posted December 5, 2002 (edited) I believe Paul Clauss flies in to the Nabesna, but no later than mid May. Here is a picture of my son (age 10) and I with Blackburn from the Kennicott side. I scoped out the route from Donohoe Peak. Looks like a burial ground. syudla Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 Went up there last year specifically for that route 5/28 and couldn't fly in due to the weather. Paul said he wasn't sure if he could land us on the Nabesna at the normal 7500' pt. but said in good weather might be able to land at `9000. We ended up flying over to Bona cause we didn't want to wait. (Sat in Chitina for a few days, yuck!!) Check with Paul for alternative landing sites. The route is normally brutally windy. Quote
Dru Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 I read an expose in the CAJ that said that Dora Keen didnt really climb Mt Blackburn...? Quote
