sawtooth500 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I'd like to spend some time doing crevasse rescue practice in prep for possibly a Baker climb - let me know if anyone is interested. It would be great to get a couple people together. I have all the equipment needed for this. Quote
grassrocket Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I would to join up with you on this. Im always looking to beef up any skills possible and have a lot of fun doing so:) Quote
sawtooth500 Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 When do you want to go? I'm on vacation so I am pretty free. Also, do you know where a good place for this would be? I'm in seattle. I'd prefer somewhere where we can get down to practicing fairly quickly and not have to hike half the day to get there, as I want to spend most of the time practicing rescue. Quote
Newman55 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I would be interested in joining in on this as well. Â Unfortunately my only experience in crevasse rescue is book learning, but I'm useful as a dead-weight to pull out of a crack. Also live in Seattle (Fremont area). Â I'm working a 9-5 so I'm limited to weekends unless I have a few week's notice. Quote
sawtooth500 Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 Yeah my crevasse stuff is mostly book learning too - but weekends would be fine with me, but where could we go that wouldn't require like an entire day's hike just to get to? Â Hood would be good if we could take the ski lift to the top, but as I'm in seattle I'd definitely prefer somewhere closer than Hood if possible. Quote
DyP Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 i've taken glacier courses and feel pretty good but i'm always looking to brush up and remove cobwebs, especially as a group. i'm in seattle and am a 9-5er so weekends are good. i can think of a few places to go. let me know. Quote
sawtooth500 Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 Ok, well let's get something together this weekend, I will PM you guys with my phone. Quote
sawtooth500 Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 Well this didn't work out last weekend, but I'd like to go and do the practice this Sunday if anyone else is up for it - let me know! Quote
NikolaiBlaze Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I'd be down to work in some skills maybe up on Rainier at Muir or something. Simulate the fatigue/elevation. Quote
