EddieE Posted September 10, 2001 Posted September 10, 2001 'she' pitched a tent right there on the trail? Maybe Liepel doesn't know her friend real well yet. Quote
Dru Posted September 10, 2001 Posted September 10, 2001 I've tried pitching a few tents but find baseballs easier. Quote
Alpine_Tom Posted September 10, 2001 Posted September 10, 2001 "After the two had reached an overhanging horizontal band of granite about 150 feet from the summit, they unroped and started scrambling up the loose rock..." Sounds like this guy should be nominated for a Darwin award! Quote
Pencil_Pusher Posted September 10, 2001 Posted September 10, 2001 That totally sucks. My sympathies to the family and uncle. Quote

Cpt.Caveman Posted September 11, 2001 Posted September 11, 2001 I find humor in this part "My friend is a survivalist," Liepel said in an interview later. "She pitched a tent for me right there on the trail." Quote
Kyle Posted September 11, 2001 Posted September 11, 2001 I find it interesting how this peak attracts so many scramblers & inexperienced climbers; must be the easy access. Chair deserves a reputation as a dangerous mountain to be climbed only by those with experience & proper gear- hardly a year goes by that someone doesn't die or get hurt on it. Very sad... Quote
