floridabuckeye Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Hello all, I was wondering how much fuel a climbing team should bring for Rainier. It would be 5 people for 4 nights. Making water to cook noodles, pasta, etc for 4 nights, plus drinking water and 4 mornings of oatmeal or dried eggs. Using an MSR Dragonfly. Any advice with this would be great. Quote
JasonG Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 You will want to have at least 2 stoves for five people if you are melting snow for water. Actually, two stoves for five people regardless of your water source. That said, two 22 oz bottles should cover it, per stove. Quote
kurthicks Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 The old standby (NOLS formula) amount is 4oz per person per day in summer, more in winter. That equates to 80oz for you. You can probably get by with less, but how much less depends on how careful you are with water melting, excessive boiling, and desired amount of hot drinks. Quote
