Hand/forearm/finger strength

All good info. I also think it's important to not overdo the crimps. The forces on the finger pulleys are 36 times higher in a crimp vs. open. That just astonishes me.

Looking for advice on how to strengthen my fingers, hands and forearms, specifically for climbing. I have been going to climbing gyms to do some bouldering and such and am severely lacking in the forearms, fingers and grip strength. Can anyone recommend some excercises/training aids? Are finger boards worth a try?




have you been climbing for a while?


if not, i'd say just climb a bunch. your finger strength will improve as your general climbing improves; it's not all just about finger strength.


oh and if you're overweight, losing lbs will be a much quicker and safer way to improve apparent finger strength.
