telemarker Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) Does anyone recognize this ice climb, on or near Goat Wall? Also, where's this ice climb (Goat's Beard) on goat wall? How's the ice climbing near Mazama? Edited January 18, 2012 by telemarker Quote
telemarker Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Oh, I did find this... Mazama Ice Anyone get on these lately? Quote
sobo Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Only climbed ice at Mazama once, many years ago. The Standard, and it was in its typical WI3/4 X-rated state. I essentially soloed it dragging a rope for my second (and third). Any screw that went in was totally worthless. It was actually melting out as I was climbing it, but it was still fun (as in trowzer-fillin' excitement) as hell. By the time we finished that, everything else was kaput. We also climbed something that ended in a mineshaft entrance way up high. No idea what that climb was... Haven't been able to make a trip back in years... That first pic looks like The Standard in pretty fat conditions. But like I said above, it's been years. Quote
telemarker Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Thanks for the info. I'm hoping it'll remain a little colder this weekend for a few britches-soiling pitches of ice. Quote
Alex Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Goats beard is in the middle of Goat Wall, it's fed by a big stand of conifers on a huge ledge 3/4 way up the wall that's pretty hard to miss when there is any ice at all. Quote

John Frieh Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Czech and standard got climbed about a week ago but with all the recent snow I'd bet they are either buried or unsafe. Goat was missing a large chunk of the lower section so doubt that it's back in but who know...? Quote
John Frieh Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 You looking to go this weekend John? Quote
