mzvarner Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Thinking about getting new picks. What are the pros/ cons to the 3 different picks offered by BD. I currently have the laser picks, but have modified/ filed them so they are not standard by any means. Quote
ScaredSilly Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 The Laser is thinner than the Titan so better sticks in some ice. Otherwise they are the same albeit the tip shape. The Fusion has more teeth. Me I would just get the Titan and file to get the point I want then go bang them around on the ice. Quote
Flap-master-Flex Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I think the pros and cons depend on what the intended use is.. from my understanding and as stated above, the B Rated Laser picks are thinner and make better purchase in pure, hard water ice. They are also less likely to cause fractures. On the other hand the T rated Titan & Fusion picks are stronger/thicker and hold up better to the abuse of mixed lines, especially drytooling. This extra beef could prove to be vital when pulling off moves where you need to torque on your picks a bit. I would also expect them to last a bit longer compared to the lasers. I wish I could say I have learned this from actual use on the crags, but as of now I only have experience with the lasers and they have performed well for the climbing I have done. I have read about the other picks online.. Hope this helps. Quote
