Water
curious if anyone has been or scoped it from lower? In july there was enough for two healthy and substantial snow traverses, when in previous years nothing. story of this summer.. so I would not be so surprised if the traverse is still boilerplate/hardpack snow. . . but anyone know? wimsey
A friend said there is still a lot of snow on the traverse but it was passable high in the moat, without crampons or axe. Said something about a short 20ft section that was belayed. Good luck and let me know what you find. -Brett
mattp
Thanks for the info! The traverse is a very exciting place to be and a traverse in the moat might make a big difference in the level of skill required as well as the level of fear -- both for leader and follower.
