dhrmabum Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) Hey, just wondering if anyone's been up in that vicinity recently? Thinking of taking my son up there soon, as in early next week, and am wondering if the park/lakes, etc. is melted out yet? Thanks. Edited August 4, 2011 by dhrmabum Quote
wimsey Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) Don't know about the Park, but I went up the West Rib Tuesday and things were melted out up to about 7000 feet. Patchy snow between 6500-7500 and very nice continuous snow above 8000. Summit pinnacle is still about 50% rime on the west aspect. No mosquitoes. Went swimming in Pamelia lake and the water temp was pleasant. have fun -Brett Edited August 4, 2011 by wimsey Quote
dhrmabum Posted August 4, 2011 Author Posted August 4, 2011 Hey, thanks. Were you able to see the lakes? Melted out? Quote
dougd Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 The Detroit Rangers usually have good info on such things... http://oregon.hometownlocator.com/local/local-directory,st,detroit%20ranger%20station,lat,44.5667897,lon,-122.1822974,cf,043.cfm d Quote
merganser Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Was up in the park this weekend, still a lot of snow on the trail, but the meadows are mostly melted out and the wildflowers are going pretty good (as are the bugs).. Surprised to see very few people up there.. Quote
dhrmabum Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 Thanks Merganser. Helpful. Time to head up there soon. Quote
psychobikere Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Was there this weekend. Lakes and the park are melted out. Still snow left in the trees once you hit the PCT (we came from the Whitewater TH). Mostly patchy though, and nothing that was even mildy bad in approach shoes. That was my first time up there - so beautiful! Quote
