keenwesh Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Mark and I climbed the first two pitches of the green dragon today. I'd love to go back and complete it but we're both so slow it would take us at least a day and a half to make it to the top. Are there any kind soul(s) out there with a ledge willing to lend it/them out? payment in beer. Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 You can fix ropes and sleep at the base as a option. Quote
keenwesh Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 if all else fails I'd do that but I've always wanted to sleep on a ledge. plus I can't wait to haul 70 pounds worth of extra shit up that trail! Quote
OlympicMtnBoy Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Or climb Town Crier and sleep on Stoner Ledge (I think that's the name). It's off to the right a little bit up the easy part of pitch 3 (before the mini-pendulum). There are some bolts and a memorial plaque. It's a bit sloping but not to hard to sleep two on. I broke it into two days that way once. Â Or fix a couple pitches and sleep on the ledge at the top of P1 if you want to feel "up there" more. Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 This must be what you're talking... Quote
stillcrankin Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Â What a cool place to be. Â Pictures like that make me homesick.... Quote
stillcrankin Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Â Dave Davis in 1986 on "Stoner Ledge" or whatever it's called. You can see the plaque on the right. Quote
ScottP Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 'Smoke Out' is the lower and smaller. 'Big Honker' is the upper, larger, sloping ledge. I "slept" on Big Honker just for the hell of it. More like "dozed fitfully". Â I have a ledge I built that I slept on (just for the hell of it) part way up Dana's Arch, that also survived a big flake pulled off Uncle Ben's at Squamish that punched a hole through the fabric (since repaired.) (Mine is the upper) You can borrow it if you want the big wall experience. Quote
keenwesh Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 Thank you! that'd be great, I'll take you up on that! unfortunately I would feel really bad leaving my partner to sleep on the ground. Another kind soul has to be out there! Quote
OlympicMtnBoy Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Thanks Scott, I thought I might have the name wrong. :-) Quote
