Fairweather Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past By Charles Onians Monday, 20 March 2000 Hello...j_b?...anybody in there?? Quote
j_b Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 What's your point? that a newspaper printed a misleading headline? LOL what a moron! Quote
Fairweather Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 10 years later: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-12046975 Snow strands Christmas travellers across north Europe... Quote
Fairweather Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 My point is this: you are the epitome of the willing dupe. Quote
j_b Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 that's what I said! you are a moron who won't differentiate between weather and climate despite that it has been told to you several times already. You are just a waste of time. Quote
j_b Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 between PP, Nitrox, and Fairweather, it's like arguing with a bunch of Limbaughs. Literally, the level of discourse is on par with that of the fat one on the 1200 radios. Quote
G-spotter Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 None of you dimwits read my link did you. Quote
Off_White Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I did, and it was a fine analysis of the situation indeed, with adequate scientific content yet accessible enough for the layman. Thanks for the link. Prole's right about the climate versus weather thing, and I suspect PP's aware of it too. Any time Petey invokes Prole, you can be pretty sure it's just a troll. Quote
Off_White Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 None of you dimwits read my link did you. Oh wait a minute, did I just agree that I was one of the dimwits? Need more coffee. Quote
j_b Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I did scan g-spotter's link and it appears to be a reasonable story but we are looking at a 2nd year of higher than usual snow in the UK, which is hardly more than a meteorological phenomenon so far. The background story is still a multi-decadal trend of less snow at lower elevation in the Alps, which got quite a bit of press (some of which overblown) because of its implications for the myriad of low elevation ski areas, the use of snow guns and their impact on the water resource.
