Trip: Something other than Hood - SW Oregon Rogue River - Grave Creek to Foster Bar

Date: 10/1/2010

Trip Report:

Had a conference down near Klamath. Should have brought the climbing gear for the Williamson River crags located bout 2 miles from where the conference was. Anyway, hit the Rogue afterward through the lower wild and scenic stretch for some steelhead fishing after (half pounders) but all we mostly caught was a buzz (beer, gin, vodka was bighting the worm). Saw 6 bears along the way but no pics, a mom and cub accros the river, one in an oak tree after acorns, another swam the river near us, and a few more along the way. Someone should try bouldering the length of mule creek canyon (>0.5 miles where the river canyon is 20 to 30 feet wide).

Tried it around Halloween (placing and replacing pumpkins). The rock in there is slicker than snot! It is water polished and very difficult to stay on, though I am sure dry rock shoes would be better than wet wetsuit booties...
