shapp Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) Trip: Something other than Hood - SW Oregon Rogue River - Grave Creek to Foster Bar Date: 10/1/2010 Trip Report: Had a conference down near Klamath. Should have brought the climbing gear for the Williamson River crags located bout 2 miles from where the conference was. Anyway, hit the Rogue afterward through the lower wild and scenic stretch for some steelhead fishing after (half pounders) but all we mostly caught was a buzz (beer, gin, vodka was bighting the worm). Saw 6 bears along the way but no pics, a mom and cub accros the river, one in an oak tree after acorns, another swam the river near us, and a few more along the way. Someone should try bouldering the length of mule creek canyon (>0.5 miles where the river canyon is 20 to 30 feet wide). Gear Notes: 3 rafts, 4 fifths, and 150 beers Approach Notes: 6 pack chevy and boat trailor Edited December 19, 2010 by shapp Quote
corvallisclimb Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Nice Jason... I love that trip. Need to do it again soon. Quote
Checat Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Yes you should have brought climbing gear and climbed at Williamson Crags. That place kicks ass! Looks like you made the most of your time though. Quote
111 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Trip: Someone should try bouldering the length of mule creek canyon (>0.5 miles where the river canyon is 20 to 30 feet wide). Tried it around Halloween (placing and replacing pumpkins). The rock in there is slicker than snot! It is water polished and very difficult to stay on, though I am sure dry rock shoes would be better than wet wetsuit booties... Quote
