Owen Davis Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I've ice climbed a couple of times and would like some suggestions re:good places to ice climb with top roping potential in OR & WA. Thanks for any ideas... Quote
DPS Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 There is an ice climbing guide book for Washington State: http://www.amazon.com/Washington-Ice-Climbing-Jason-Martin/dp/0898869463/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1287108553&sr=1-1 Also a companion Web site: http://www.wastateice.net/Guide.aspx Quote
Alex Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Washington and Oregon are both sadly very lacking in top-ropeable, moderate ice for beginners. The absolute BEST thing to do is to take a week-long trip to Banff during the winter, and climb at Junkyards, Hafner, and other practice areas to where you feel comfortable leading WI3. Then there are options back home.... Quote
BobbyZ Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 So where is the non-toproping ice in Oregon? Assuming comfort on WI3/4. Quote
