Lambone Posted December 6, 2001 Posted December 6, 2001 Dude, I hear ya... But there is only on problem with your aproach. The harder you smash the ice cicles, the longer they take to form up. Climb gently, like your on some kinda cascades choss fest... Quote

Cpt.Caveman Posted December 7, 2001 Author Posted December 7, 2001 Dont fall on my melon icicle. Anyone here ever heel hook on an ice climb? Let's hear it if you have! I suppose you would need spikes in da back of da crampons. Quote
Lambone Posted December 7, 2001 Posted December 7, 2001 A friend of mine who does some of that super steep + burly mixed climbing retro fitted his BD crampons with heel and side points. They are scary looking.... Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted December 7, 2001 Author Posted December 7, 2001 Have you ever seen him lead with them on? I want to watch some of dat Quote
Lambone Posted December 7, 2001 Posted December 7, 2001 He's fuckin amazing, you'd have to go to Montana to watch...but it'd be worth it. I spent many hours belaying him on some of Montana's hardest/steepest mixed routes. Ever see Alex Lowes photo on Bulldog World, in Hyalite canyon. Look on the home page of :http://montanaice.com/ Pete put that route up... and did the first ascent. He linked up like 6 figure fours in a row or some crazy shit Quote
vegetablebelay Posted December 7, 2001 Posted December 7, 2001 I've got the Trango Harpoons and they've got a screw that sticks out about an inch or so in the back for heel hooks. Pretty cool. And yes, I'm hella ready to go bash some ice! Quote
