sterlingclimber Posted May 6, 2002 Posted May 6, 2002 Anyone have advise on climbing, hiking, scrambling and the likes in the Valley. I will be spending a long weekend in that area and would like to get in some kind of climb or hike. Is any rock climbing in that area? Thanks in advance. Quote
DPS Posted May 6, 2002 Posted May 6, 2002 Near Mazama is Fun Rock, a sport crag and Goat Wall with multi pitch routes. Brian Burdo's North Cascades Rock guide book should have the relevant beta. Washington Pass is nearby with good spring skiing and very fine ice/mixed routes when in condition as well. Quote
Wopper Posted May 7, 2002 Posted May 7, 2002 There is also info listed in Jeff Smoot's Rock Climbing in Washington book. Have never climbed at Mazama but have had dinner and beers at the little restraunt next to the gas station. Good food, good beer, good view. Quote
ScottP Posted May 7, 2002 Posted May 7, 2002 The blues festival in Winthrop is a kickass, though somewhat expensive, diversion in the middle of July somtime. Combined with some of the better WA Pass rock routes, it's a hard to beat combo. Quote
