Maine-iac Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 After a recent cliff hucking experience that left me with a plate and 11 screws in my shoulder I feel it is about time to look into some external aid. So the question is what are people using for armor? I'm interested in hearing about knee pads, spine protection, and helmets and any others I might be missing. It seems like POC has a specific line up for explorers like me: Link Giro seems to lack a little on their upper end protection design wise; or am I wrong? Thanks for the help and ideas! Only 8-12 weeks before I'm back in action. Quote
96avs01 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 After cracked ribs 2 straight seasons I have found the impact vest from Skeletools quite useful for in-bounds outings when things are firm. The removable shoulder pads are nice as I don't have shoulder issues yet...knock on wood. Quote
RuMR Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 speed event racers are using slytech moldable back armor... Quote
RuMR Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 but then again skiing is ghey and you should just go climbing instead... Quote
Maine-iac Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 What is the equivalent of blower powder in climbing? I have never had a similar experience while climbing. Quote
gertlush Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Yeah seemed like kind of a weird comment to make in a thread where somebody is asking for equipment advice. Quote

Maine-iac Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 Skiing blower powder is effortless; beginners to experts can do it. Climbing is not effortless. Personally I would take a day of untracked blower any single day over a day of "white, pocketed limestone coming up out of the mediterannean and sunny skies with nekkid women roaming about." Given a week and that would be a tough call Quote
