We have a campground reservation in Yosemite (upper pines) but we might not get there the first night. What I would suggest is typing out a note saying they are your buddies, scanning this with your drivers license at the bottom, make a pdf and sent it to your friend. I've got a weird last name so all I (and my friends, if they turn up first) gotta say is my surname and site number, no other info required. Sometimes I'll send my pals a PDF of my reservation.gov receipt, just in case - never been asked for it before. If I'm running late or something's gone hinky, I'll just give them a ring on the way in. I think I just use the number listed at the website - (209)372-8502. The rangers up there are pretty cool.
