danhelmstadter Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 what are some classic long upper fourth class exposed scrambles in the NC's ? thanks Quote
Lisa_D Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 The Twin Sister Range. Aside from the obvious WR of the N Twin - one of my all time favorites - I hear there are a lot of other beautiful climbs like S. Twin, Hayden, Cinderella, Skookum.. might be worth exploring, and there could be some cool linkups. Plus, nobody goes there. Icy Peak's summit is 4th class, and the views from there are beautiful. Mt. Watson, Hagen, and Bacon are supposed to be fun. The Eldorado Ice Cap area probably has a few. Lots of stuff in the Pasayten. Crater Mtn, Lago, Karhu, etc, are all supposed to be nice. WR of Cutthroat might be doable - a few moves of low 5th perhaps. West MacMillan Spire. Snowfield Peak has an OK class 3 summit pyramid with great views at the top, Pyramid peak has a scramble route, and you can probably scramble Colonial (?). Quote
marc_leclerc Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 SE Face of Stonerabbit 1000m of rock, no bush. perfect granite. Quote
toproper Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 South Ridge of black peak is goodun'. The North ridge is a little steeper and spicier but also more or less a scramble. Whistler peak, right off of route 20 at WA pass is a good one too! I like the stonerabbit suggestion, I'll have to check that one out. Quote
