Jdoherty Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I probaly won't be able to take any mountaineering classes til next year. I was wondering if there are any dvd's out there that teach belaying and basic mountaineering to hold me over till next year? I searched and found a out of print dvd called waterfall ice but it didn't look like it was what i was looking for. Thanks Quote
Le Piston Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I don't know about DVD's, but do you know anyone that could take you to a climbing gym to work on belaying? There is nothing like hands on to learn belaying. Quote
111 Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 not instructional, but if you want to get a stoke; Front Range Freaks, Masters of Stone I-VI. Freedom Of The Hills is the best climbing resource out there. Get it now and start reading. Quote
mkporwit Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 As a mountie, I should be praising Freedom of the Hills... and it is a good resource. However, for a contrarian, opinionated, and intelligent point of view, check out Connely's "The Mountaineering Handbook" Quote
Mike Barter Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I put this out this morning. There is about 100 vids on this channel aimed at mountaineering and climbing education. May or may not be of help. The Mike Quote

sklag Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 saw something on amazon, "avoiding the touch" Dvd's; there seems to be a series of them. They are all about strangers with candy in vans or something... No seriously, they are about self rescue, increasing efficiency, etc... Take a peek. chris Quote
