TarHeelEMT Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I'm planning a trip to Shuksan, Baker, and El Dorado soon, and I'm trying to find a more comprehensive guidebook than the one I have. Which of Beckey's guidebooks covers those mountains? Are there any other books worth looking at for those mountains? Quote
dgleighton Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Shuksan and Baker Beckey Red, El Dorado Beckey Green. Also check through the trip reports hear and at Summit post. Also at NWhikers.com. Quote
Pete_H Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Check out Nelson's Cascade Select. Inherently not comprehensive, but good nonetheless. McClane's guide has good info on Baker and Shuksan. Quote
genepires Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 depends on the route. If you want the easiest way up those peaks, then the nelson select has more details for routes. (Nelson has some hard routes too) But if you want more difficult or obscure routes, you will need the beckey guide. which routes were you thinking about? Quote
TarHeelEMT Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 We're going to do the easier routes, most likely, although I'd like the option of trying a more challenging route later in the trip. It's really just a question of how well my partner does with stuff. If he's doing well enough that I think he could follow a more difficult route, then we'll probably try that for one of the peaks. genepires Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 nelsons select sounds like a good book for you. It also has other routes to do as "back ups" due to weather. (washington pass and enchantment routes) Quote
