  1. I typically wear size 8-8 1/2. I used these for colder trips with Superfeet winter foot beds and thicker socks. The boots also have Primaloft insulation.
  2. Lowa Cristallo X Pro GTX size 42 only used a few times mostly on snow and or with crampons. No issues with them $150 I live in the Bellingham area. Can also ship if you pay.
  3. I've got a New England(Maxim) rope. Tag that came with it said you can use an Avery Marks-A-Lot. Said that they had done testing and showed no ill affects on their ropes.
  4. I've done Baker by the Easton Route and Shuksan by the Sulphide Route. Both have nice approaches and are fun climbs. I'm 49 and slow as well. Have not done a lot of climbing the past two years due to a multitude of circumstances out of my control but am getting back into climbing shape now and by late spring early summer would be up to ether of both on these. Note: The internet has done the world a great service, it has allowed us the ability to see the social ineptness in people before we get stuck in a tent with them. Also the old saying "Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one" is very evident on this site. Blessing Dave
  5. Nikwax Fabric and Leather Proof, in a blue bottle. Aqueous Wax is in a yellow bottle.
  6. I have had a pair of the Khumbu GTX for a few years now and only have to treat the boots once a season with the wax. I do also treat them with the Aqueous between. Below is from La Sportiva's website: What should I use to treat my new boots? * For a general purpose waterproofing product, we have found that Nikwax Aqueous Wax Leather Waterproofing performs the best. * Re-apply this product as necessary or after every use in severe conditions. * We also recommend that you occasionally condition the leather Nikwax Waterproofing Wax for Leather. * It is possible to use petroleum-based products too much, so apply only occasionally. * A seam sealer will also help to keep water out * Please note these products may darken the color of the leather
  7. Nikwax Waterproofing Wax. It comes in a white tube.
  8. Green has a lower arch/less volume
  9. The colors have to do with the support and volume. They also have a new model out called DMP. They are full memory foam with the same support/footbed. Much more comfortable. Cost is the same as the rest. I won't bitch like others about that, but I get mine for free. My son works there. Oh no, I guess that makes him a part of the giant machine that is trying to fuck us all out of our money.
  10. I've seen several of your posts and well you're a dip shit. Assuming that climbers like to be "fleeced" is unfair that's like assuming your name entitles you to a role in the movie Deliverance. I spent 3 years in the Army up in Alaska in the early 80's and was miserable at best with the shitty gear they issued. I'll take what you in your asshat opinion is to be the over priced gear. Oh by the way speaking of tattoos post a pic of yourself I've got a special spot in my ass crack I'd like to have it done.
  11. The south side of Baker can be pretty broken up in late August and the bergschrund near the crater create some problems that time of year. If Ruth sounds like it could be a possibility add Icy Peak to it. In August Ruth can be a smooth day and Icy will add some 3rd/4th class scrambling. Headed up there this weekend.
  12. Road 13 open 2.5 miles. Around 2 more to the trail head
  13. Today 5-18-2009 from the Forest Service. Headed up there on the 6th of June. Just checking for myself.
  14. Can drive to the junction of FS road 12 and FS road 13. Then 5 and 1/2 miles to Schreibers Meadows up road 13.
  15. Shuksan and Baker Beckey Red, El Dorado Beckey Green. Also check through the trip reports hear and at Summit post. Also at NWhikers.com.
  16. If no one has info the best bet is to call (360) 856-5700 ext 515.
  17. Manufacturer states that the standard center bar is good up to size 12. So I guess you can go from there. I've small feet, size 8's so do have to even think about it.
  18. They work well on mixed terrain, good stability and bite on steeper snow and ice.
  19. I have the Black Diamond Sabertooth and Contacts. They've both worked well for me. If you go with Black Diamond you'll have to get the extender. No biggie though pretty inexpensive.
  20. I have the Lowa Cristallo X Pro. I've used them for around 6 trips on mixed snow/ice/rock. Have worked well for me. As said they don't have a lot of ankle flex but I've worked around that. Comfortable on the trail/ approach hikes. My feet get cold easy and these have kept my feet warm in low teens single digit temps while staying active but got a bit cold with belays and standing around. Hope this helps. Dave
  21. Great pack a little to long for me. Size Large 22" +. Have carried 55 lbs.+/- and other than hanging a little low was very stable. $125 plus shipping. I'll post pics later.
  22. By late July there will be some good route finding opportunities as the Easton begins to open up a bit due to its southerly exposure. Though it is not a very technical climb it is one I've enjoyed a number of times.
