robpatterson5 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi, I was just wondering what the guidebook for Patagoina was, or even if there was one? Also for those who have been, what was the costs of your trip? Cheers, Rob, who is dreaming of granite spires... Quote

robpatterson5 Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 Thanks, any idea what airlines fly down there? For some reason none of the airline websites like my travel start and end locations.. Quote
Jim Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Lan Chile. Total of about $2k spend for 9 weeks, including flight. Quote
robpatterson5 Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 Jeaze, its almost as cheap as Denali or the Ruth! Is the website (and the alpinist issue) the only reliable and colected info on routes until your down there? Or is it all reserching spicific routes? Cheers Quote
Jim Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 We were on the no frills agenda. Alan Kearney has a guidebook - but most of it was a bit above our capability. We just talked with folks down there to find things to get up. Cerro Solo and Torre McMillian (? just a 4th class) were two that I remember. There are so many things down there if you're willing to trek a bit you can get a first ascent on minor peaks no one cares about. If you want some rock Bariloche is the place to go and you can pick up a guide at the local climbing club headquarters Quote
underworld Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 if you go to the ranger station in el chalten... they have tons of beta compiled there. cerro solo is mellow and a rad summit. best view evarrrr Quote
robpatterson5 Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 Sounds like a great trip, maybe next season down there... Any other info/good tips? Cheers Quote
