pdreyer Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Hey there. I live in the mountains of Colorado. I have 6-7 days off coming up quickly (3/20-27) and am potentially looking to get up into the Cascades for some winter adventuring/ski climbs. I have just thought about this idea. The 2 drawbacks - (1) I do not have a partner, (2) I do not know that area. I am very experienced in winter backcountry environments. My questions for you all - (1) Any good trip ideas? (2) Any available partners out there? Thanks. paul 4pauldreyer@gmail.com Quote
genepires Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 weather permitting, a long ski tour through the snoqualmie pass, enchantments or cascade pass area would fit your request. south side of mt baker ascent (ski) DC route on rainier (ski) The last two have obvious crevasse issues but should be minimal that time if year. enjoy! DirtyHarry Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 You're better off staying in Codorado or somewhere you are familiar with. Unless you really luck out with weather and conditions there aren't many places I would recommend going solo especially if you aren't familiar with the area. I would suggest postponing your trip until spring or summer, then come up and ski some corn on the volcanoes. Quote
Sergei Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Enchantments would rock in winter. Just don't get blasted by avalanche off Asgaard Pass. Quote
