kbone Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 So, I was at Linda Ice 9 and the temps were around -35C and my toes were very cold in my leather Scarpa Matterhorns and we had to beg off the climb. I don't want that to happen again so I have been looking for plastic boots on-line. There seems to be a very limited selection available at most retail outlets and that made me wonder... are plastics out these days? Are there other warm options (to -35C) that I should be considering? Quote
genepires Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 hard to stay warm in anything worth ice climbing in at -35F. Better yet, why climb when it is that cold? The ice is all brittle and suffering is high. Maybe I just suck. Seems like there are some good double leather boot with insulation but I never really thought about ice climbing in those conditions for reasons above. But if you must........ Quote
kbone Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 Unfortunately I only get to go once a year so I climb in whatever is thrown at me... Quote
G-spotter Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Scvarpa Omegas are the lightest plastics out there, give them a try Quote
