Do everything helmet.

My helmets are getting older now and are quite heavy. I've stopped wearing my ski/snowboard helmet altogether because of neck strain. I don't really want to collect more and would like one helmet that can do skiing/snowboarding, summer rock/alpine as well as mountaineering.

Do the foam mountaineering helmets provide adequate rear and side impact protection for skiing?

Are there any helmets with effective variable venting that can be used in both hot and cold weather with the addition of thin toques or removable ear caps?

Thanks Rob.

I just realized that working with goggles will be a major issue. I'll have to remember to take mine and try them with some mountaineering helmets and see if any will work. Apparently the Grivel Salamander is designed to work with goggles. I wonder the if the headlamp clips can serve a dual purpose or if the goggles will fit underneath.
